SGBR Campaign Under Way

SGBR-Home-Page-Image_CampaignThis week we welcome the Hon Kate Jones, Minister for Tourism and Minister for Education to our destination for the official opening of Salt Yeppoon combined with our Capricorn Enterprise Members Networking night, attended by over 150 people!

Congratulations to Salt Yeppoon Managers Karen and Steve Gunther and Developers Andrew Beaumont and Wayne Riddell for this fantastic addition to our destination tourism portfolio.

The Minister’s visit is timely as we are now in the second week of the Southern Great Barrier Reef campaign (1st February to 31st March 2016) which is thanks to significant investment by the State Government via Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ).

The current campaign will build on the successful Phase 1 activity in October/November 2015 and consists of a content partnership with News Limited seeing content distributed online at couriermail.com.au, digital advertising (Brisbane and Regional Queensland – display, video, search and social advertising), out of home advertising (outdoor citylight, interactive panels in Brisbane) and extensive publicity activity.

The SGBR campaigns are only possible due to an ongoing partnership between Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ), the three regional tourist organisations of Capricorn Enterprise, Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited, and Bundaberg North Burnett Tourism and of course our operators.  An incredible amount of work goes on behind the scenes – hundreds of email communications, hours or organising and planning for these campaigns at local, regional and state level by all parties!

Over $500,000 has been invested into this marketing activity to drive visitation to the SGBR and raise  awareness of our ‘hero experiences’ whilst motivating consumers to seek further information and visit.

We acknowledge our local operators for participating in on-line deals which are valid until 31st March 2016.  Participating operators within our Capricorn region are:

  • Australian Nature Guides (Carnarvon Gorge)
  • Sail Capricornia
  • Quest Rockhampton
  • Edge Apartment Hotel
  • Great Keppel Island Holiday Village
  • Rosslyn Bay Resort
  • Capricorn Resort Yeppoon
  • Great Keppel Island Hideaway
  • Villa Mar Colina
  • Capricorn Caves – Tours
  • Capricorn Caves – Accom
  • Beaches on Lammermoor
  • Empire Apartment Hotel
  • Echelon Apartments Yeppoon

Of course, a number of operators from the Gladstone and Bundaberg regions also participate in the SGBR campaigns.

Until next time….

Mary Carroll CEO Capricorn Enterprise
