2017 Event Season is Here!

July marks the beginning of our peak annual event season which is so much fun for locals and visitors!

The second ROCKHAMPTON RIVER FESTIVAL is on from 15th to 17th July and it’s bigger and better than ever. Themed River Revery, you can dream big and escape from the ordinary, with more talent, more tastes and more culture. The Festival is free, though some events are ticketed, and has something for every member of the family. If you want to attend a ticketed event, get onto it ASAP as ticket sales close this Saturday!

PARADISE LAGOONS CAMPDRAFT is on again from 20th to 24th July, and if you haven’t been yet, you absolutely must go. Australia’s richest Campdraft attracts thousands of spectators and competitors from around the nation. The family friendly event, housed in a purpose designed and constructed complex, hosts a full five days of draft and cutting events, plus social functions and the very popular State of Origin invitational.

Opening on 23rd July is the biennial GOLD AWARD, one of Australia’s richest art prizes. The finalists are nine of Australia’s most in demand contemporary artists, and the pieces range from landscape and self-portraiture, to figuration and abstraction, and explore wide ranging and essential themes such as identity, culture, politics and power.

The JRT / TAG YEPPOON GOLF CLASSIC from 26th to 30th July will be battled out, played in, sworn at, over indulged in and thoroughly enjoyed in the final week of July. The 2016 Golf Classic will be the richest of the Queensland PGA Sunshine Tour circuit and will certainly attract the leading professionals in the country at the time. The social highlight will be the Coal Train Gala Ball, with entertainment by Jimeoin and an amazing light display.

The 10th Annual BRISBANE TO KEPPEL TROPICAL YACHT RACE will be held at the Keppel Bay Marina from 5th to the 7th August. Past events have seen major yachts like Wild Oats Xi compete in the event from Moreton Bay to Yeppoon, and the community is invited to the finish line celebrations all weekend at Keppel Bay Marina.

The YEPPOON TRIATHLON FESTIVAL will be held on Saturday 6th to Sunday 7th August. Competitors are coming from around the country to compete in the Olympic-distance events on the Sunday. Don’t miss the activities on the Saturday including the Open Water Swimming Race, the Kids Free Aquathon for kids aged 7-13 and the popular 5km Fun Run at 3pm to raise money for Capricorn Coast Helicopter Rescue Service.

The vastly popular OBSTACLES GONE MAD will be held on Saturday 14th August.

The CQUNIVERSITY VILLAGE FESTIVAL will be held the following weekend from 12th to 14th August – the festival will be held on the beachfront and will feature the incredible talents of Pete Murray, Hunters & Collectors mainstays Mark Seymour & James Reyne, and the incredible jazz trumpeter James Morrison alongside some amazing local talent. And the best thing – it’s FREE for the whole community to attend.

The YEPPOON COAST GUARD TIGHT LINES FISHING CLASSIC will be held from the 26th to 27th August.
