State Tourism key influencers impressed by destination!

Last week, eight key influencers from Tourism and Events Queensland visited our destination and left as advocates!
Whilst we can’t show them everything in less than 48 hours, we certainly do our best!

Representatives from TEQ’s Media Trade Relations, Digital Content, Digital Marketing and GBR Destination Specialist departments enjoyed incredible diversity over two days and are still buzzing about their experience!

From bucking bulls at the Great Western Hotel to crocodile dinosaurs at Koorana Crocodile Farm, from jet skiing around Great Keppel Island to witnessing majestic whales in Keppel Bay, from coral viewing in the glass bottom boat to scenic views over Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast, there was little down time for our very special guests.

A tour along the Capricorn Coast, including a drive through Council’s new carpark, revealed the spectacular street art donning the walls of Yeppoon’s public spaces. Within half an hour of viewing, Yeppoon’s street art was tagged on Tourism and Events Queensland official Facebook site, with an opportunity now to be included in an upcoming blog about street art in Queensland!
Perfect weather revealed spectacular view points including the top of Adelaide street Yeppoon, the new Wreck Point lookout at Cooee Bay, the Emu Park ANZAC boardwalk and Singing Ship and Mount Archer National Park.

Exceptional meals, coffees and beverages were supplied by the Great Western Hotel, Great Keppel Island Hideaway Bar & Bistro, Koorana Crocodile Farm and the Waterline Restaurant Keppel Bay Marina.

Sincere thanks to accommodation operators Great Keppel Island Hideaway, Empire and Edge Apartment Hotels for providing complimentary rooms over two nights. Thanks to tour operators Keppel Konnections, GKI Adventures, Freedom Fast Cats and Koorana Crocodile Farm.

Thanks to Pumpkin Island and the Pumpkin Xpress for including a quick afternoon visit and site inspection, which included more whale watching touring as an added bonus on the way!

The expressions on our guests faces were priceless and whilst I did my best to have our guests stay for three nights and days to show them much more of our region, every single one of them will be back for their own family holidays in our stunning destination we call ‘home’! Perhaps the following quote sums it up:

“Hi Mary – I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you so much for hosting us all on the TEQ staff famil last week. Your passion and enthusiasm for the region is infectious and your incredible wealth of knowledge is admirable. From observing your relationships with some of your operators, I am sure they all appreciate your dedication and hard work that you do on a daily basis on their behalf.

Please also pass on our heartfelt thanks to them all for looking after us so well and sharing with us some of the beautiful experiences you have to offer visitors.

Looking forward to working with you again in the future.”

Kind regards, Sarah
