WE ARE ON THE MAP for GC2018!

We are quite literally on the map – Yeppoon, Great Keppel Island, Pumpkin Island in addition to Rockhampton, Blackwater and Emerald

What Map you ask?

Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) have produced a 40 page ‘Discover Queensland’ ebook for visitors to the Commonwealth Games being held from Wed 4th to Sun 15th April 2018.

It is not possible to promote all the best experiences in Queensland in 40 pages in addition to the GC2018 Host and Event Cities of Gold Coast, Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville.

Themes in the ebook include:

  • Great Barrier Reef
  • Best Beaches, Islands
  • Wildlife
  • World Heritage Wonders
  • Outback Landscapes
  • Indigenous
  • Local Flavours
  • Qld Events
  • Travel Tips

Capricorn Enterprise, your Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO), has worked very hard to ensure our little patch of paradise has been included in both the text, hyperlinks and map, with strong competition from thousands of products throughout Queensland.

Airports at Rockhampton and Emerald are marked.

Yeppoon is included as one of the stepping off points to the Great Barrier Reef in the How to Get There section in ‘Reef Rendezvous’ on page 19.

On page 23, Great Keppel Island is listed and hyperlinked in the ‘Great Barrier Reef’ section.

Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary is listed as a great place to cuddle a koala in the ‘Wild Things’ section on page 25.

Gemfest Festival of Gems in August is listed in the ‘It’s Live’ Events calendar on page 35.

Capricorn Enterprise has also been invited by the Department of Innovation, Tourism and Industry Development (DITID) to participate in the GC2018 Tourism Investment Program.

We have been afforded the opportunity to attend two business events at Commonwealth House on the Gold Coast which have been designed to showcase tourism investment opportunities throughout Queensland.

A program has been designed by the Department to target National and International Investors with our collateral to showcase a number of opportunities in our destination, along with seven other destinations throughout the state (Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Cairns/TNQ, Whitsundays and the Outback).

The Falkland Islands are conducting their Commonwealth Games pre-training in Rockhampton due to the bid document that Capricorn Enterprise prepared over 18 months ago.

Former Sports Minister Hinchliffe at the time, touted it as the BEST bid document he had seen in Queensland which was very much appreciated by our hard working team at Capricorn Enterprise.

These results do not just happen – we are committed to lobbying on behalf of our destination and work very hard with our State colleagues to ensure we are not a gap in the map.

And I am pleased to report that this map is the master map now used in all Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) publications.
