Meet the speakers: Steve Hatfield-Dodds, ABARES, and Ross Garnaut AC, University of Melbourne

Dr Steve Hatfield-Dodds is one of Australia’s leading researchers on integrated approaches to natural resource management, global change and sustainability. His career includes senior roles in government policy agencies, research and private consulting. Before joining ABARES in August 2017, Steve led the integrated science and modelling capacity that produced the CSIRO Australian National Outlook 2015. He has published in journals including Nature, Science, Agricultural Systems, Ecological Economics, Global Environmental Change, and Ecology and Society.

Professor Ross Garnaut AC is a Professorial Research Fellow in Economics at the University of Melbourne. He is the author of numerous publications on international economics, public finance and economic development, particularly in relation to East Asia and the Southwest Pacific. Ross has had longstanding and successful roles as policy advisor, diplomat and businessman, and is the author of a number of influential reports to the Australian Government, including Australia and the Northeast Asian Ascendancy, The Garnaut Climate Change Review and The Garnaut Review 2011: Australia and the Global Response to Climate Change.
