Yeppoon VIC Welcomes New Supervisor

This week, Capricorn Enterprise welcomes our newly appointed full-time Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre (VIC) Supervisor!

Leanne Smith is well known in our local community having held the role as President of the Keppel Coasts Arts Council (KAC) for the past 5 years and has been a proud local for over four decades.

Leanne is very excited about her new role, looking forward to working with our wonderful team of about twenty-five volunteers, without whom we just could not operate an Accredited Visitor Information Centre seven days a week for visitors and locals.  Leanne brings with her years of experience in working with wonderful volunteer teams as well as actively participating in the local arts community as a volunteer herself, the Village Festival as a great example.

Her co-ordination of the monthly Fig Tree Markets next door in the Merv Anderson Park, on behalf of the Keppel Coast Arts Council, is a wonderful adjunct to her new role at the Visitor Information Centre and Shell World Yeppoon.

Leanne has been self employed so understands local business and also has strong connections in the local business and wider community.  Leanne has travelled extensively, lived overseas, has a passion for our region and can’t wait to make her mark on our wonderful Visitor Information Centre.

Whilst Matt Cook filled in the role for a few months, we have not lost him to our tourism ‘family’, as he has just commenced his new role as Manager of Quality Hotel Regent in Rockhampton.  Former VIC Supervisor for three years, Mindy Bambrick is also continuing her passion for tourism in the local area with our volunteers and Members very grateful for her support during her time at the Yeppoon VIC.

Tourism really does get ‘in your blood’, so I have absolutely no doubt that Leanne will stay in our industry for many years to come!

Until next time……
