Tourism Australia impressed by Southern Great Barrier Reef Teamwork!

Team members from Capricorn Enterprise, Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited (GAPDL), Bundaberg North Burnett Tourism (BNBT), and Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) have just returned from Sydney where we promoted our greater Southern Great Barrier Reef Destination to forty (40) staff at Tourism Australia. Months in the making and another first for our destination, we sincerely thank Tourism Australia’s Industry Relations Manager, Glen Davis and our TEQ SGBR Partnership Director Karen Ronning, for facilitating this important milestone. Presentations to Tourism Australia are highly sought after by many products and destinations around the country, so this is another example of the strength of the SGBR partnership and what we can achieve by working together.

From the Keppel Islands in the east to the Central Highlands in the west, the Capricorn region was well promoted in partnership with our SGBR destination Regional Tourism Organisations and their product offerings. The diversity of product and Hero Experiences in our amazing destination (Sandstone Wilderness, Cities and coastal towns, Culinary, Caves and Fossicking, Island escapes and activities, Attractions and Events and much more) was showcased in an hour long presentation by our SGBR team, with Tourism Australia staff representing a number of key departments including media/publicity, international offices, digital and research.

We were also provided an amazing opportunity to each record 2 minute training videos promoting our three regions within the SGBR, which will be sent to Tourism Australia’s Aussie Specialists around the globe – Tourism Australia works in partnerships with all eight State & Territory Tourism Organisations (STO’s) on delivering the Aussie Specialist Program to more than 30,000 travel agents around the world!

Tourism operators can participate in this program too, by sending a 2 minute video promoting your product – it can be produced on your iPhone! To find out more go to www.tourism.australia.com/aussiespecialist
You can also submit a Travel Club offer to www.tourism.australia.com/travelclub
