School holiday fun in the Capricorn Region in April 2019

Festival of the Wind

Emu Park Lions and Triple M Festival of the Wind is a family kite festival with world class professional kite fliers, fantastic markets, kite workshop, carnival rides, live entertainment, sand sculpturing competition, wacky beach games (free entry) with money on offer for your nominated charity, a flare display by Coast Guards. Bendigo Bank’s Monster Fireworks display at the end of the evening. Plenty of food and drinks available.

Archer Park Museum

Come along on the Family Fun Day on 28th of April and have a great day! The Purrey Steam Tram will run and there will be market stalls, Car Displays, Community Group Displays, live music, Dancers and lots more. There will also be a sausage sizzle and food for sale.

CapriCon Rockhampton

A pop culture, cosplay and steampunk convention not to be missed. The rise of pop culture can only be described as meteoric, and with major studios already revealing production plans spanning decades, this rise is set to continue for many years to come. CapriCon is for all ages, providing a fun, inclusive and immersive event that people don’t just attend, they experience.  With crowd numbers expected in excess of 8,500 attendees, join us on Saturday 6 April 2019, 10am – 8pm

Rockhampton Heritage Village

School holiday activities held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays of the holidays include feeding the livestock, enjoying rides on the stage coach, vintage cars, double decker bus, ponies and more! You can even treat yourself and the family to a light snack or ice cream at Arnolds Store.  Please note: Enclosed shoes must be worn on the rides.

Weather and the Water Cycle

Learn all about the water cycle and how water flows through the Fitzroy River catchment, connecting all of us. Become a mini-meteorologist and understand what drives the weather we experience through awesome demonstrations; interactive science displays and make your own rain gauge. Please BYO a plastic bottle (600ml or 1.25L).  All programs as part of Fitzroy Basin Association Flow Centre relaunch are FREE!

Capricorn Caves Climbing Wall

School holiday climbing wall is open every Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 2pm.  Bring the kids to the Caves to climb an 8 metre high climbing tower with 15 different climbs ranging from easy to overhangs! The brand new bouldering wall will also be open and available for use too.
