2019 Young Tourism Leaders

Congratulations to Jordan Wheeler from Capricorn Caves who has been accepted as this year’s Capricorn region industry mentee to participate in the highly sought after Young Tourism Leaders program, proudly funded by the Queensland Government and hosted by the Department of Innovation, Tourism Industry Development.  Minister for Employment, Small Business and Training, the Hon Shannon Fentiman MP officially welcomed this year’s cohort at a special presentation at Parliament House in Brisbane last week, with Member for Rockhampton Barry O’Rourke MP in attendance to congratulate our local stars.

We also congratulate Dominique Gleixner, Tourism Manager at GAPDL and Amy Gash from Lady Elliot Island, who are the other two Young Tourism Leaders for 2019/20 from the greater Southern Great Barrier Reef destination and will be completing the program with Jordan.

It’s also great to note that one of Brisbane’s Young Tourism Leaders this year is Adam Zammit, who is a Tour Guide for AAT Kings and was a former tour guide for Capricorn Caves after completing his Certificate III in Tourism at North Rockhampton High School.

Adam (who regularly visits our destination on tour with AAT) and Jordan were both nominated by Amanda Hinton, General Manager of Capricorn Caves.  Amanda Hinton, Eloise Chaffers and Zac Garven are all Young Tourism Leaders from our Capricorn Region!
