The Queensland Government has passed the Environmental Protection (Efficiency and Streamlining) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2025, delivering a key commitment under its Destination 2045 tourism strategy.
The reforms will introduce a single integrated tourism permission across Queensland’s national parks, State forests, recreation areas and State marine parks, reducing administrative complexity for tourism operators. The new framework will replace multiple permits, fees and approval processes with a streamlined system while maintaining existing environmental safeguards.
The changes are designed to support tourism investment, encourage new visitor experiences and improve operational efficiency across the State’s natural areas. The initiative forms part of Destination 2045, Queensland’s long-term tourism plan, which aims to unlock new opportunities for the industry and deliver 45 new ecotourism experiences by 2045.
The single integrated approval framework is expected to commence in mid-2026.
