Community Services Industry Alliance (CSIA) Disaster Management and Recovery workshop presented by Fiona Canigila.

Community-based organisations, particularly small ones, play a vital role in meeting community needs across Queensland.  In times of disaster, they perform important roles at the frontline, responding to people in crisis.  Often, they are also responding to broader community needs, before during and after disasters.  Community organisations have a critical role to play in building resilience, responding to the crisis and supporting recovery.

To strengthen this role it is critical that organisations are able to plan to keep their business running during disasters.

This workshop will focus on building the skills of the community organisation, boards and staff to undertake business continuity planning.  The workshop will:

  • Provide and overview of business continuity planning;
  • Take participants through a set of practical tools and resources that can be used in planning; and
  • Use real scenarios to practice putting a business continuity plan together.

Who should attend?

CSIA recognise that responsibility for business continuity planning may rest with one person or it may be shared between people.  With this in mind you might attend if you are a:

  • Board Member
  • Senior Manager
  • Operations Manager
  • Frontline Worker

You may find it helpful to bring more than one person to the workshop.

There is no cost to attend the workshop but places are limited so register early.

Resources that will be used in the workshop can be found at this link https://csialtd.com.au/disastermanagement
