The Queensland ichoose Digital Economy workshop road show has begun which presents a toolkit to assist small businesses in becoming aware of business growth opportunities enabled by the digital economy.

To help Queensland businesses focus on potential opportunities and challenges, the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) has partnered with the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) to develop the Digital Economy Toolkit.

The Queensland State Government wants firms to be well-informed about how the digital era can impact on their business prospects and encourages all businesses to attend this free workshop on the opportunities presented by the fast-developing global digital economy.

Aside from targeting small business owners, the toolkit, that includes a business planner www.ichoose.org.au/ibusiness, serves as a good educational reference tool for anyone interested in the digital economy and offers a practical way to increase knowledge in readiness for the digital economy boom on the back of the National Broadband Network (NBN) rollout.

The toolkit is an integrated package of business guides and internet resources to help businesses to prepare for a digital future.

This business planner resource will demonstrate to business operators how adopting digital applications can assist business continuity and resilience.

The toolkit also includes a promotional video and a series of education modules and tools which are supported by workshops in regions across Queensland.

In the next month the road show will visit: Rockhampton, Townsville, Mt Isa, Longreach, and Toowoomba and with Wide Bay/Burnett and Brisbane in 2012. Cairns in the Far North was the first to have the ichoose workshop on 14 November, 2011.

For more information about what the NBN and digital economy can do for your business, visit www.business.qld.gov.au/technology-for-business.

All workshops are free to attend.
