About the Ambassador
Stéphane ROMATET was appointed as the Ambassador to Australia is November 2011. He is a Knight in the National Order of Mérite and has a Diploma from the Political Studies Institute.His previous postings include:
- 1999-2003 Deputy Head of Mission – French Embassy to Canada
- 2003-2005 Chief of the Cultural and cooperation department – French Embassy to Senegal
- 2006-2007 Chief for Real Estates Affairs – Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs (MFEA)
- 2007-2008 Adviser, then Deputy Chief of Staff of the Office of the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs
- October 2008 Deputy Secretary for Administration and Management ; Senior Referent for Defence and Security matters – MFEA
