Combine inbound tourism growth into Australia, increased domestic and international visitors to our destination over the past year and continued strategic collaboration, opportunities for our tourism industry are the best in twenty (20) years according to Capricorn Enterprise Chairman Graham Scott.
Following a series of successful high level industry meetings and events in Brisbane recently, Graham Scott believes that Capricorn Enterprise, local industry and strategic partnerships is key to that success.
Queensland’s Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO’s) chief executives and Chairs met with the Board and executive management team of Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) in Brisbane to discuss long term partnerships in order to achieve the industry’s 2020 stretch targets.
Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games the Hon Kate Jones MP also met with the RTO’s and announced to an audience of 800 people at the Queensland Tourism Awards, that three (3) year funding of $7 Million per annum ($21 Million over three years) is secure for Queensland’s Regional Tourism Organisations.
Capricorn Enterprise Chairman Graham Scott said “as Chair of a not-for-profit organisation, the long term funding assurance for regional tourism organisations recently announced by Minister Kate Jones is greatly appreciated.”
“Moving from an annual budget to a three year budget will allow us to plan longer term marketing strategies with our Southern Great Barrier Reef partners and local tourism industry; and the Minister should be congratulated for that” he said.
“This commitment to regional tourism by the state government builds upon some great initiatives over the past few years and provides confidence to our industry in product development and investment” he said.
“The success of the Southern Great Barrier Reef marketing campaigns at the recent Queensland Tourism Awards, teamed with Empire Apartment Hotel taking out the Best New Tourism Product in the state, is a good omen for 2016.”
