I recently had the pleasure of returning to Queensland’s Capricorn Coast to promote the region on Nine’s ‘Today’ breakfast television program.

Since 2020, I have had the pleasure of working alongside Mary Carroll and her small but mighty Capricorn Enterprise team.

In the lead up to each visit, Mary has worked closely with the Nine production team coordinating the most appropriate content to highlight – including small business, tourism options and local success stories.

During our numerous visits, Mary has gone above and beyond to accomodate the entire Nine crew, providing warm hospitality and experiences that are enjoyable, both professionally and personally.

Mary Carroll and the Capricorn Enterprise team are wonderful and powerful representatives for the region, the key to that being their excellent relationships with operators and community members, forged over many years.

The value of those relationships has been proved many times, with the need for last minute pivoting and production changes – which Mary is always able to navigate with ease.

As someone who visits regions across Australia and around the world on near-daily basis, it’s always an enjoyable experience returning to the Capricorn Coast.

I look forward to continuing my working relationship and resulting friendship with Mary and her team, for many years to come.

Tim Davies | Channel 9 Today Weather Presenter (2019-Current) – April 2024

Dear Mary,
Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to feature on the Channel 9 My Way program on Sunday 11th February 2024.

Within minutes of airing we received a high tea booking from a group of retirees from Cairns who will be visiting Yeppoon next month & lots of new local visitors over the past couple of days too. Amazing!

Thank you for everything you do for our beautiful region.
Amanda Rickard | Stir & Stitch – February 2024

Thank you for the opportunity to sponsor and be an entrant of the Best in Business Awards. It was such a great night when it came to recognition, awards and celebrating the successes of many. The interview process was thorough too and I appreciated the experience. The team had a great night and were excited to be there! There were even haircuts involved and new suits which is how I know they knew it was a big deal that we were in the running!

Nyree Johnson | Johnson’s 4WD Repair Shop – November 2023

CQShines Foundation would like to extend our thanks to the Capricorn Enterprise team and Capricornia Chamber of Commerce for hosting an exceptional Best in Business Awards.

It was an incredible evening filled with celebration, recognition, and inspiration. The dedication and effort put into organising the event truly shone through, making it a memorable experience for all that attended.

Thank you, Mary, for your encouragement to nominate for the Best Community Business category. Your commitment to fostering and acknowledging excellence within our business community is commendable.

Thank you for a great evening that highlighted the best of our business community.

Glenn Burton | CQShines – November 2023

Hi Mary and Eloise,

On behalf of myself, Dennis, Rod, Ben and Andrew (and Ricky!) an enormous thanks to you both and your incredible tourism operators for hosting us in the stunning Capricorn region over the past few days.  We can’t express enough how grateful we are and how much your region impressed – we’re all now huge advocates and will be sharing our enthusiasm across the GALTA channels and beyond.

Louise Terry, President | GALTA – November 2023

Mary and her team organised an unforgettable famil for our team to discover all of what the beautiful Capricorn Coast has to offer. She showed us around with dedication, passing on her passion for this region and making sure that we would meet all the operators that make it such a great travel destination!
We were already selling the Capricorn Coast to our clients but experiencing it by ourselves allowed us to discover new products, get fresh insights and leave with many insider’s tips to pass on to our travellers!
Thanks again for a wonderful experience, we will be back sooner than later!

Céline Bourdonnais | MY DREAM ADVENTURES – September 2023

Hi Mary,

We would like to thank you and the team at Capricorn Enterprise for assisting with the team from Channel 9 Getaway attending our Park, Mt Hay Gemstone Tourist Park.

Presenter David and Cameraman Roger were very happy with the footage they took.

Also thanks to Krista for her help and providing her children for our “rent a crowd” along with the volunteers from the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre whom we also hosted for a Famil.

A good and successful day all round.
Thank you
The Kayes Family.
(Don, Roi and James)

The Kayes Family | Mt Hay Gemstone Tourist Park – September 2023

We have been the managers of Villa Mar Colina for the past 15 years. During that time we have been members of Capricorn Enterprise which has been a very rewarding experience for both our business and socially. The networking nights organised by Capricorn Enterprise have proved very successful for developing many good business contacts and friendships. When we first came to Yeppoon the Tourism industry was in its infancy and not many people had ever heard of the Capricorn Coast which through a great marketing program from Mary and her team has become part of the Southern Great Barrier Reef, which in turn has Yeppoon and the Capricorn Coast a must see, stay and play destination.
What a wonderful Ambassador Mary Carroll and her team have been for this wonderful region.

Glenys Hurley | Villa Mar Colina – July 2023

Breeze Holiday Parks is located across 14 destinations around Australia. We work with many RTOs and LTOs and I don’t take it lightly when I say Capricorn Enterprise is up there competing with the best. Not only do we get the best value from them, but we also truly feel like they know our product and our brand as well as we do and it’s easy to see they’re our biggest fans. Their support, guidance, knowledge, understanding and relationships have played a key role in our success as a business. We see, hear and feel their constant championing.

Cassie Jackson | Head of Marketing | Breeze Holiday Parks – June 2023

I wanted to pass on my thanks and acknowledgement to Mary of the wonderful job that Capricorn Enterprise continues to do for our region.

After stepping away from the Capricornia Chamber of Commerce some 4 years ago, I have gained a much greater appreciation of all the work and effort that is required to engage the local community, the local businesses and specifically, potential tourists to our region, the way that Capricorn Enterprise (and Mary in particular) does so successfully. Much of the work is largely unheralded ……but it is quietly appreciated by countless residents and businesses…..like myself.

Keep up the great work, team CE !

Peter Fraser | Smyth Financial – June 2023

Few pics as a great souvenir of our lovely time shared together.  Great ATE and time thanks to you.  Thank you so much.

Aurelia Devilliers | Premium Travel Australie Tours (France)May 2023

Thank you for your email and pictures for reminding me of the great trip we had together.  It has been in fact an incredible time at the Capricorn Coast and I would also like to thank you for showing us your home and the diversity the region offers.  You are a great host and I will definitely include some parts of it into our upcoming itinerary along the East Coast of Australia!

Kirstin Dieckmann | Ikarus Tours GmbH (Germany) – May 2023

It was really good to reacquaint myself with Rockhampton and visit Yeppoon.  It did change my perception of the region in a positive way!

Sven Dijkstra | QAS Holidays (Netherlands) – May 2023

Thanks for organising everything for us and for your great hospitality, we’ve had an amazing time in Yeppoon!

Karin Willemsen | Travel Essence (Netherlands and New Zealand) – May 2023

Hi Mary

I would like to thank you and your team at Capricorn Enterprise for arranging the My Way (Channel 9) crew to visit our place, it was a real good day.

Izzy, Ben and Scott were a very nice team to work with and made us feel quite comfortable while they set up for each shoot, it was a pleasure.

We look forward to seeing the end production.

I would also like to take this moment and on behalf of Mt Hay to wish you all at Capricorn Enterprise a Merry Christmas and a Great New Year to follow.

Don Kayes | Aradon (Mount Hay Gemstone Tourist Park) – December 2022

Hi Mary – Congratulations! Saturday night’s Best in Business Awards Gala was one of the best events I have attended in years. The venue was beautiful, the food was amazing – we were all full before we even sat down at our tables (that never happens at these types of things). The canapes were to die for! We wished we could have stayed longer but we had to go relieve the babysitter. I just wanted to thank yourself and Capricorn Enterprise & the Capricornia Chamber of Commerce for putting the event on.

Emily Hutton | C & E Consulting Creative – November 2022

The support Capricorn Enterprise has shown the Plastic Free CQ Program has been unwavering and absolutely critical to its communication to the wider business community across Central Queensland. The Capricorn Enterprise team are an absolute pleasure and ever assisting in ensuring your business, program, event or just engagement has a far reach and is representative of you and your core values. Mary Carroll lives, eats and breaths Central Queensland and is an absolute credit to our business and the wider community. Her experience and adaptation to the ever-changing growth that is CQ are an absolute credit to her hard work and dedication to the Region and her team.

Jo Stoyel | Plastic Free CQ – November 2022

Since becoming a member of Capricorn Enterprise, the Jet James Art Gallery has experienced a considerable uplift in visitors from across Qld and Australia due to the exposure from appearing in Channel 9’s May Way program. Our visitors have mentioned seeing the program and quite a few have said that they had made a trip to Yeppoon especially to come and see the gallery. Without Cap Enterprise support, this would not have been possible.

Michelle Taranto | Jet James Art Gallery – September 2022

Hi Frank, Thank you so much for your time and support in analysing and collating this data and information, my sincere appreciation for you undertaking this body of work in support of CQU ED Futures project for our region.

The trends, data and forecasting which you have provided is extremely informative and of great value to the University.

Kim Harrington | CQUniversity Australia – August 2022

Hi Krista, I would like to thank you and your friends (the ‘rent a crowd’)who came to Mt Hay Gemstone Tourist Park to enable Levi, Jarrod and Gideon work their magic with the cameras on Sunday.

It was what you would call a tough day for filming but credit to all the children and parents who froze their butts off. Without them it would have been difficult to achieve the results. I hope it looked summery enough and can’t wait to get to see the final cut.

All I can say is Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou.

Don Kayes | Aradon (Mt Hay Gemstone Tourist Park) – June 2022

Our partnership with Capricorn Enterprise is one that we value greatly. Great Keppel Island Hideaway has received significant media coverage over the past 12 months through both television shows and general PR and this is largely due to the efforts of Mary and her team! We choose to be a Platinum Member of Capricorn Enterprise because alone, we could not achieve this level of marketing exposure and we value the support and guidance they provide to our entire team.

Kelly Harris | Great Keppel Island Hideaway – June 2022

It is exciting to have so many new companies joining your organisation. So much potential here and I’m so glad others are of the same mind. You and your team are doing an amazing job of promoting all things relating to our region.

Ron Neumann | The Capricorn Line – April 2022

To Mary and the Capricorn Enterprise Team,

Thank you all for your endless support and work you have done for us at The Salty Lime Co.

You all truly love what you do and this is seen by your dedication and passion you all put into your members and our Region.

It has been the best decision for us as a company and individuals to become members with Capricorn Enterprise, we have had so much growth from your support and opportunities you have brought to us. Look forward to the future and what we can do together.

Thank you so much for everything you do.

Roxanne and Luke Hinton | The Salty Lime Co – March 2022

Hi Krista

I would just like to say a huge thank you for your assistance and professionalism with organising the talent for these shoots, particularly your follow up emails with the guidelines and the information you have provided to us on each particular talent. It has been so helpful and we appreciate your assistance immensely. This is such a fantastic opportunity for us all, and I am confident we will ace it. Thanks so much again Krista.

Angela Miller | Mad Dog Productions – March 2022

Hi Mary and Phil

I wanted to send you my sincere congratulations on a highly successful Best in Business Awards 2021 event.  Capricorn Enterprise and Capricorn Chamber of Commerce are to be commended for working together to coordinate and host such a large and gala event. An enormous volume of work for all involved, it was such a great night, good to see so many local business people come together to celebrate.

I have been involved as a judge since at least 2014 (probably even prior to 2014) and I have to say, out of all the iterations of different organisations facilitating these awards the 2021 awards are the best to date. In particular, I really liked the fact that every business or employee that was nominated got their name mentioned and mentioned via multiple modes (hardcopy program, on the big screen, read out by the emcee).

Kim Harrington | CQUniversity – December 2021

The 2021 Major Project Forum provided a very interesting line up of guest speakers and project information.

Thanks to the organisers and presenters.

CQ certainly has an exciting decade ahead full of business opportunity and Rsured looks forward to supporting these new developments in their digital transformation.

Thanks again,

Dave Grenfell OAM | Rsured – October 2021

I would like to thank Capricorn Enterprise for organising another superb Major Projects Forum. Every topic covered was significant to Central Queensland, and the calibre of presenters provided an informative and engaging day.

Mark Stanley | CQUniversity – October 2021

Hi Mary
Thank you for being such a dedicated team to steer local and interstate tourists to the Cap Coast.
It is a pleasure to support you and your team and in turn you are supporting all local businesses.

Thank you again.

Bill & Andrea Stokje | Oshen Yeppoon – June 2021

A great big thank you to Neil, Frank and the team at Capricorn Enterprise for managing our recent Breakfast Industry Briefing in Rockhampton.

As the sponsor of the event I rate it a huge success! They managed every detail and organised it all along the way. It was such a relief to have confidence that the event was in the capable hands of Neil and the team.

With Capricorn Enterprise’s reach and contacts within the region, Neil and the team were able to bring together an audience of 80 engaged industry people.

The event was a great way to meet key contacts in the region, provide a forum for information sharing, enjoy a wonderful breakfast, at a fantastic venue and the opportunity to network with local business.

As a company, we’d do it again and only with the support of the team at Capricorn Enterprise!

Tasha Eagle | Edencrete – June 2021

Capricorn Enterprise is commended for a sustained initiative to bring a diverse range of business interests together in a way which encourages a truly innovative exchange of ideas and a shared exposure to new opportunities.

Justin Moss ARCADIS – June 2021

I would like to congratulate Capricorn Enterprise on what I can only assume has been a successful destination advertising campaign.

The most recent TVC has done an incredible job to showcase the many hidden pockets of our region, demonstrating the adventure and fun that can be had in our own backyard. From the beginning of the campaign I have heard positive feedback from people both near and far. In particular I have had people share with me how proud this campaign has made them feel to live in such a beautiful part of the world.

It has been a pleasure to work with you and I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for our treasured region with the endorsement and support of Capricorn Enterprise. Well done Team Capricorn Enterprise!

Rebecca Palma | Southern Cross Austereo – June 2021

Hi Mary & Team, Thank you so much for both GKI Hideaway & Pumpkin Island’s inclusions in the recent Today Show live weather crosses, it was incredible National exposure with a price tag that neither property could achieve independently. Social media and landlines ran hot, during, and post both live crosses and I’ve had multiple guests checking in since that were so excited to see us on the telly! As you all know I’ve worked closely with Capricorn Enterprise as an employee of Great Keppel Island Hideaway for several years now and now with Pumpkin Island. I’d just like to acknowledge how much I value our partnership and your support – it’s with great thanks to Capricorn Enterprise, your support, mentoring opportunities, and networking that I’ve managed to go out alone and get my own business up and running, Taylor Made Marketing. Thank you, Capricorn Enterprise, for everything you do for each and every operator but more importantly, our broader region.

Eloise Chaffers | Taylor Made Marketing – March 2021

A huge thank you to Mary Carroll and her team at Capricorn Enterprise for providing the opportunity recently of having the Today Show film at Henderson Park Farm Retreat.  We were absolutely chuffed to be included in the week long regional shoot that put some of our iconic locations on the map!

As a small operator, this level of exposure is impossible to put a value on, along with the quality and variety of footage we received with it. Resharing this on social media bought us a record number of engagements and reach, and having access to this footage and being able to share it in a public space will continue to be an ongoing selling point for our business.

Mary and her team continue to work hard to support operators in the greater region, never more so than during the pandemic and beyond in the recovery phase, as evidenced with the return of the Today Show. Being a member of Capricorn Enterprise has provided industry support, opportunities for growth and exposure for our business which we would not otherwise have access to.

Niki Anderson | Henderson Park Farm Retreat – February 2021

Good Morning Neil,

Congratulations to you and the Capricorn Enterprise team, the 2020 Capricorn Major Projects Forum was awesome!

It was great to be able to attend a Capricorn Enterprise Event (finally) and you and your team certainly excelled– the speakers were exceptional and there were great opportunities to network.

I was really impressed with the Frenchville Sports Club COVID procedures etc. and the food and service was first class.

It was a very informative event and I am certain every participant gained greater insight and understanding of the projects and exciting opportunities for the business community in Central Queensland.

Ivan Richardson | PacPlus Wholesalers – October 2020

Hi Mary

I just wanted to say a big thank-you for everything you organised for our two stints up your way.

You and your team made everything so seamless for us to travel our crew to the Capricorn Coast region and get 6 wonderful days of content to air.

We travel a lot and work with many different tourism bodies but I have to say, you and your team are one of the best we’ve ever worked with. From suggesting locations which would look different each day to finding engaging and visual content for each of our 6 crosses every day, your eye for what works on TV is 10/10.

Thank you also for all the behind the scenes work you did to properly brief ‘talent’ for us for each day so everyone knew what to expect and no one was disappointed with their “15 seconds of fame”.

I am proud to say each day we were in your region we won the ratings in QLD against our competitors. I know that is in no small part thanks to the wonderful content you were able to provide us.

We will absolutely be back in your region – it’s so nice to work with someone who understands our needs and makes it easy for us to do our jobs.

Lesa De Re | Today Show, Supervising Producer – October 2020

Dear Mary

Congratulations on the excellent work undertaken by you and the team at Capricorn Enterprise to secure the Today show visit to our region last week. These types of things do not happen without a lot of background work, coordination, and engagement. The outcomes really showcased all that our region has to offer and was a credit to your hard work.

I wanted to personally thank you for also making The Rockhampton Grammar School a significant part of the coverage. Not only was it a great promotional platform for the School but it was also a fantastic opportunity for the boys in our rowing team. I know how much they enjoyed it, and I am sure it will be something they remember for many years to come.

Phillip Moulds | The Rockhampton Grammar School – October 2020

It was such a pleasure to work with Heather from Capricorn Enterprise. She organised a phenomenal itinerary for us to explore the endless highlights and gems right across the Capricorn region, from the Sapphire Gemfields to the Capricorn Coast. We found her approach was highly professional and her clear communication was appreciated. This part of Australia is absolutely beautiful, in terms of landscape, wilderness, cuisine, beaches, islands and friendly locals. We can’t wait to return in the near future.

Rach|Very Hungry Nomads – September 2020

Hi Mary – Congratulations. You and your team do an amazing job. Look forward to working with you all for the next 10 years ????

Jo Seiler|NRMA Capricorn Yeppoon Holiday Park – July 2020

Thanks for all the wonderful emails that you have sent with lots of very helpful information.  You have worked extremely hard and have provided vital support for many people – well done Capricorn Enterprise!

Maria Harms|Bronsan Pty Ltd – July 2020

Hi Mary, just wanted to update you. School holidays are off to a cracker start with the van park full, hundreds of people on tours everyday. Tours are selling out, we are at capacity with covid restrictions, hopefully it stays this way for the holidays. It would not have been possible without the support of yourself and your Capricorn Enterprise team.

Amanda Hinton|Capricorn Caves – July 2020

We have fantastic bookings for the June/July holidays (more pre-bookings than we have ever had by far).

A lot of people are being converted thanks to the ad on TV produced by Capricorn Enterprise!  People here and everyone I talk to loves the ad and said it made them want to book tours!

Jordan Wheeler|Capricorn Caves – June 2020

I just quickly wanted to reach out to say that I really love and appreciate the regular newsletters from Capricorn Enterprises.

I honestly find something of interest in every single one.

Thanks for sharing them with us.

Kylie Ufer|ProfitAbility Virtual Assistance – June 2020

On behalf of our beloved Ferns Hideaway Resort Genevieve and Marto would like to take this opportunity to personally thank Mary Carroll along with Capricorn Enterprise and the Livingstone Shire Council for all the wonderful help, guidance  and directional assistance you have all supplied as we try to navigate through this difficult period in history. Ferns Hideaway has always been a 40 year labour of love to create a unique, warm, welcoming, viable and family friendly tourist destination, situated in a small but beautiful pocket of sclerophyll forest along the banks of Waterpark Creek . The difficulties of being 40 kilometres from our nearest town Yeppoon coupled with the problems just surviving in small business in today’s world in general and then over laying the horrific economic effect of COVID-19 on the entire globe, we fear we would have been totally lost without the care, guidance and truly professional assistance you have all afforded us. We sincerely thank you all and offer our eternal appreciation for the wonderful efforts your organisations have made to help us survive the uncharted waters we have found ourselves in 2020.

John and Genevieve Martin|Ferns Hideaway Resort, Byfield – June 2020

As a major marine and tourism hospitality business on the Capricorn Coast, the Keppel Bay Marina and Waterline Restaurant has appreciated the constant and superb assistance, advocacy, advice, support and marketing as we navigate through one of the most difficult times in our 24 year business from Mary Carroll and Capricorn Enterprise.

More now than ever, our tourism and hospitality industry needs the strength of our Regional Tourism Organisation to continue with the strong support of both our Local and State governments.  We need Capricorn Enterprise to consolidate our collective small business membership and marketing contributions to really make a difference for our destination including for cruising boaties against strong competition from other Queensland destinations and are so grateful for their outstanding performance representing us.

Richard and Libbie Wilson| Keppel Bay Marina and the Waterline Restaurant – June 2020

As we start to see some light at the end of the tunnel with covid, I just wanted to send a quick email to thank you for your assistance. Not only through this period, however the years leading up as well. The forward bookings we are seeing right now would not be happening if we as a business, and collectively as a destination, weren’t in the position we were going into covid, and Capricorn Enterprise was integral to this.

Throughout the crisis, as well as all the lobbying, your team have been a consistent information hunter in a rapidly dynamic and changing environment. Your forward thinking with marketing campaigns for members, and all businesses, to leverage off and link with have not only seen the spike in bookings we’ve had since restrictions started easing but also kept operators looking forward at a time when it was easy to dwell on the situation.

We are very optimistic for the future with Capricorn Enterprise having our backs.

Kelly Harris| Great Keppel Island Hideaway and Keppel Konnections – June 2020

Our amazing tourism group – CAPRICORN ENTERPRISE – Mary Carroll and her incredibly dedicated Team have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure Yeppoon and the Capricorn region are in the forefront of people’s minds, now travel within Qld has resumed; the latest TV and social media campaign to entice guests to the region and the Southern Great Barrier Reef is outstanding and we are supporting the Team by sharing it across our social media platforms.   It’s always a pleasure to talk to each of this great team and Mary avails herself, for us the Members, at all times – even on her busiest days.

We have worked with other Tourism Boards and Mary’s Team is far above the rest, outperforming time after time – it is a blessing to be associated with Capricorn Enterprise and this region is lucky to have them.

Bill and Andrea Stokje| Oshen Holiday Apartments, Yeppoon – June 2020

I’ve really appreciated the kickstart Capricorn Enterprise provided me when starting my business venture. Without their support, it just wouldn’t have been possible to have achieved National and International exposure within the first 12 months of operating. Mary Carroll’s wealth of knowledge and hands on experience makes her an invaluable ambassador and resource to the Capricorn region. She is extremely well-known in the tourism industry and as such has been able to bypass the gatekeepers and provide direct access to decision makers; she just makes things easy for local business owners. I look forward to working with the Capricorn Enterprise team for many years to come.

Scott Ryan| Keppel Explorer – June 2020

Thank you to Mary and the incredible team at Capricorn Enterprise,

Through this COVID 19 crisis your organisation has been an absolute lifeline for our tourism business. You have made yourself available nearly 24/7 for us to call on in times of need, you have advocated for us in discussions with the Queensland and Federal Government, you have communicated the difficulties we are facing as an industry clearly and calmly; calling for the solutions we needed to survive the most challenging time we have ever faced as operators.

Now more than ever we appreciate all the work you do; from marketing our beautiful region to both the domestic and international markets, the extensive business mentoring we receive to grow our relationships with the ITO’s & Wholesalers, your advocacy to the various levels of industry representation and all levels of Government, your tireless promotion of the Southern Great Barrier Reef and all we offer our visitors, and then finally your insatiable passion for all the small, medium and large business owners in our region to do well by attracting more visitor numbers to our region.

First they come and stay, then they play. And then we all benefit. From the small cafes, local retail shops, accommodation providers and tour operators right through the board to the large restaurants and hotels.

Our business depends on you heavily and we can never wholly express our gratitude for all you do in words, thank you.

Laureth Rumble| Pumpkin Island – June 2020

I’m so grateful to have won this amazing prize pack in the recent Visit Capricorn Facebook competition. Everything we have won is in our region for my family to explore and support local business. We love where we live, so many hidden treasures that we need to share with the world. Can’t wait to use the vouchers and splurge on us!

Tennille Caddell – May 2020

I have to say how impressed I was when I saw the latest adds that Capricorn Enterprise are currently running on television. It made me think of the happy times I’ve shared with family and friends at many of these wonderful businesses on show. It is heart warming to know that local businesses are being supported and showcased in such a wonderful way. Congratulations to you and your team and thank you for caring for local business.

Simone Lawrie| Artizan Gluten Free Bakery – May 2020

Thank you so much for advising of our win in the Holiday at Home competition on Visit Capricorn. We’ve been trying to think about what we could possibly do to try and help promote tourism in our area again, especially once all this is over and this competition was such a good idea. Thanks for coming up with it. It was so much fun and we will try and make the real version after we can all go out freely again. My son Owen has just done the biggest happy dance!

Bluey Harris – May 2020

Thanks so much for letting us know of our win in the Holiday at Home competition. I have two VERY excited girls right now. This win totally made their day. Thank you

Jacqueline Gleeson – April 2020

Thanks Mary, I want you to know that the efforts of Capricorn Enterprise during these difficult times (Covid-19) are not going to waste. It is nice to have a local representative body getting in and lobbying for the best interests of our sector.

I know I am only a small financial member to your organisation, but it has crystallized to me how valuable ongoing membership is to my business.

Take heart in the fact that the efforts of you and the team are being noticed by your members and the broader business community.

We will get through this and Capricorn Enterprise will continue to be an important part of our future success as a region in the years to come.

Nathan Johnston| Rise Environmental & Guiding Services, Guided Fishing Downunder – April 2020

Dear Mary and Co, As usual you are a breath of fresh air and a very sturdy and reliable support.

From the bellows of my aching gut and thumpingly stressed heart…Thank you (amid COVID-19 crisis).

It was also great to be able to network with so many industry representatives over a good meal and cold beer.

And I’m looking forward to the big one next month.”

Sam Hill| Coffey Testing – August 2019

“A huge thank you to Mary and Capricorn Enterprise for making our time in the Capricorn region extraordinary. It was fantastic to see Yeppoon through the local’s eyes, thanks for the guided private tour!  Doing a tour at the Capricorn Caves was another memorable experiences.”

Henrik Bossmeyer| TEQ Germany – July 2019

“I am so excited to win a two night stay at the Rubyvale Gem Gallery Holiday Apartments as part of the Visit Capricorn website competition. We are heading through Rockhampton on our way to Cairns in August for our trip to the Cape and Thursday Island!  Now we can schedule a stay at the Rubyvale Gem Gallery Holiday Apartments.  This is awesome!!!  We met a miner who works at Dingo a couple of weeks ago and I am taking this as a sign!!  Given that I wear an Emerald engagement ring (and have done for 28 years), Emerald and Sapphire have always been on my bucket list!!  My husband and I are google mapping already and are planning our next holiday. Thank you Capricorn Enterprise.”

Jacqui| Brighton – June 2019

“Wonderful short course on Positive Leadership. An excellent way to become a positive and intentional leader. Rob provides a sensational array of research, evidence-based theory to this course and a stack of books and ready to focus on and improve in your career and life.  I appreciate the opportunity that Capricorn Enterprise has provided in making these courses available and affordable to local business and Organisations.”

Michael Hardy| CentacareCQ – June 2019

“What an absolutely wonderful trip we (myself and 10 Sunlover/Helloworld Travel agents) got to experience with the very amazing Mary and team. Arriving in Rockhampton and travelling through to Yeppoon there was no question in which Mary or her suppliers were unable to answer. Not only did we get to experience beautiful hotels, Byfield NP, Emu Park, Koorana Croc Farm, Capricorn Caves, the singing ship, gorgeous pottery and Great Keppel Island we got to learn about Rockhampton and Yeppoon in depth. More than the ‘tourist’ would hear. Every supplier was kind, informative and helpful in all manners and really portrayed the strong connection and passion they have for their product and region. Everyone has gained a lot more confidence and knowledge to be able send more clients through to region. Thank you to all involved in hosting us, we felt very welcomed and will definitely be back.”

Sarah Whitwell| Sunlover Holidays Team Leader – June 2019

Thanks Capricorn Enterprise for co-ordinating the Positive Leadership course.  I really valued these last 2 days and have applied a lot of it in my area of work. It’s too easy to get ‘lost’ in an organisation, before realising you need to step outside of it and look back into, to see what changes need to be made and really lead effectively.

Great presentation and fantastic presenter. A wealth of knowledge!

I have shared some fantastic tips with the team to help develop any weaknesses/learned behaviours to create a more positive workplace. I would highly recommend this course to anyone in an organisation, in all areas of work because the changes made can positively change the way the whole team works.

Danielle Dunne| Stay Yeppoon – June 2019

“A great big thanks to Mary and the team for a really informative and enlightening week in the Capricorn region.  From Rockhampton through to the Capricorn Caves, Byfield, Yeppoon, Emu Park, Great Keppel Island and everything between – Around every corner was something unique and unexpected. It was great to be able to see the breadth of product available and to connect with tourism operators to gain their insights on their international markets and to explain some of the work that Tourism Australia is undertaking. I look forward to continuing to support the Southern Great Barrier Reef team in bringing this wonderful region to the world.”

Dominic Mehling| Industry Relations Manager, Tourism Australia – February 2019

“After returning home to the Capricorn Coast from the Southern Great Barrier Reef Tourism Trade Ready workshop at the Town of 1770/Agnes Water, we are so thankful and happy with how much knowledge we have gained over the course of the day!

The workshop was excellent! Amanda Kruse (Success Matrix) is inspiring, approachable and has a wealth of knowledge.

We are now looking forward to implementing everything we have learnt, taking our business to the next level and becoming ‘Trade Ready’.

Thanks again to our Regional Tourism Organisations (Capricorn, Gladstone, Bundaberg regions) for your continued support, encouragement and all your tireless hard work.”

Kerry  McCoombes| Rosslyn Bay Resort – February 2019

What fun shots of the Industry Celebration Night! I loved looking through them. It was such a special night! Thanks again for the great honour. My folks have already earmarked a place on the wall for my Local Legends award, they are very proud!

And thanks for supporting me with my book, too! I hope everyone enjoys it.”

Anna Daniels | Writer Presenter Producer – December 2018

“I just wanted to pass on my big congratulations on yesterday’s Major Project Forum – WOW!

After being away and living in Gladstone for 10 years (albeit still keeping a close eye on Rocky), what an exciting time we have ahead of us. I’ve been involved in a few of these types events in a previous life, but can I congratulate you on the depth and diversity of speakers – the segmenting of sessions into like topics was also very well done.

Each presentation hit the mark with content very relevant, but also gave the audience a great (and transparent) insight into each of the projects on our doorstep. I also really enjoyed hearing Mary’s update on the progress Capricorn Enterprise has made in achieving the region’s Priority Initiatives – as we all know, success in achieving these initiatives is a long process, and I totally agree with comment on the day re patience!

The region has much prosperity on the horizon (in fact it’s a lot closer than that), and reinforces my views and the Directors of Cooper McKenzie Marketing, to establish a full time presence in Rockhampton – a place I’m still proud to call home.

Again, a huge congratulations to you, Mary and the entire team, and my sincere apologies for having to exit quickly after the close – unfortunately work was calling!”

Carl Carter | Cooper McKenzie Marketing – November 2018

“QRC is proud to have Capricorn Enterprise as our regional partner. We see firsthand the great work that the organisation does in ensuring that the region is always well represented in Brisbane, especially in 1 William Street. For a small regional team, Capricorn Enterprise punch well above their weight. We really value their ongoing contribution to the Queensland Local Content Leaders’ Network.

We’d urge every business in the region to get involved in Capricorn Enterprise. Support the organisation that promotes your region and join Capricorn Enterprise.”

Ian Macfarlane | Chief Executive Queensland Resources Council – November 2018

“The quality of presenters and industry news (at the Major Projects Forum) was superb and certainly offered all of us in attendance clarity, insight and confidence in the amount and size of the projects secured for our region in the very new future.

Central Queensland and the businesses within are in a great place at the moment and the next number of years the future is bright and exciting.

Once again Neil, thank you for yesterday and keep up the great work that yourself and the Capricorn Enterprise team are doing, your efforts certainly do not go unnoticed.”

Graham Sheppard | Development Manager JRT Group of Companies – November 2018

“The team at Capricorn Enterprise work tirelesly to promote our region and the operators within it. They actively search opportunity that will bring more awareness and ultimately visitors to the Capricorn Coast including media, photo journalists, bloggers, social media influencers and even retail brands looking for locations to shoot their new products ranges.

We really appreciate the business mentoring we have received through Capricorn Enterprise, including getting our product ready for the international and domestic travel market. It has increased the awareness of Pumpkin Island internationally immensely and we have seen a constant stream of international visitors that have found out about us in international publications…all organised through Capricorn Enterprise.

Advice is always a phone call away and they are always available and ready to help. Our business has grown immensely in the years we have been members of Capricorn Enterprise and the media coverage we have received through their hard work has been incredible.

We can not thank Mary and her team of hardworking marketing superstars enough for all that they do for us. They always go above and beyond and we believe this is a sign of their passion and commitment to the Capricorn and Southern Great Barrier Reef region.”

Laureth and Wayne Rumble | Owners Pumpkin Island – August 2018

“We are back in the big smoke! Just wanted to relay our gratitude for a fantastic time in SGBR.  Without doubt one of the most beautiful regions in Queensland I have seen over the years.  I understand now why you are all so passionate about promoting your ‘backyard’. We had a fantastic time everywhere we went, friendly people and ‘other’ wildlife everywhere we looked.  Accommodation was superb in each location and excursions exciting for young and old.”

Rafael Duwenbeck | General Manager Operations – Insight Australia Travel PTY LTD – July 2018

“I’ve known Mary Carroll for the past 20 years of my 30-year media career, having first met her when I was a Senior Journalist for News Ltd, and more recently, in my role as a professional Travel Writer for the past 15 years. Throughout our 20-year association, Mary has never wavered in her professionalism and passion for tourism and the Capricorn Region. In my role, I am constantly exposed to tourism bodies and PRs around the world and Mary is an absolute stand-out when it comes to performing her job. She understands and values media and works with us to guarantee the best possible outcome for both parties. She is prompt, punctual and positive in delivering to our onerous deadlines and incredibly hardworking on behalf of her membership. Mary knows what constitutes a good story, constantly pitching ideas on behalf of her membership which actually work for modern media. Behind this hard-working manager, is a decent human who cares passionately about people, making working with Mary an absolute pleasure. In an increasingly competitive tourism world, where journalists such as myself are invited around the globe to cover stories, Mary finds a way to entice us back again and again to tell the great tales of the Capricorn Region.”

Christine Retschlag | Pacific Asia Travel Association Travel Writer Gold Award Winner 2017 – June 2018

Industry Support – Major Infrastructure Project Linkages, Introductions and Events. As a Director of All Industries Group located at 50 McBean Street, Yeppoon QLD, I wish to place a record of our appreciation for the contact, introductions and referrals that have been extended by Neil Lethlean, Economic Development Manager, particularly in the key areas of Defence procurement and services, regional infrastructure project details and investment opportunities. Whilst the relationship with Neil has only been developed in recent times, Neil’s referrals to Defence networking and information forums, plus extended details in respect to regional projects has expanded our business/industry network to include new and developing markets. In addition, the recent mentoring appointment that our Group had with Rodney Love from the Centre for Defence Industry Capabilities (CDIC) has allowed a better understanding of Defence procurement and service delivery opportunities which we will evaluate as part of our ongoing development strategy. We look forward to the continued liaison with Capricorn Enterprise for our mutual benefit.

Trent Miles | Director, All Industries Group Yeppoon – June 2018

“Hi Mary, Thank you so much for organising this wonderful trip for us and for giving up your time to showing us around. We really enjoyed it and were amazed by what the region has to offer. What really stood out was that everyone was so  genuinely friendly and passionate, as mentioned before, we felt so welcome and among friends. I will try to include more product in next year’s selfdrive itineraries for the Dutch, Swiss and French, they will love it. There is so much potential, we just have to spread the word!”

Sandra Feustel | General Manager Product & Client Relations, Pan Pacific Travel Australia Pty Ltd – May 2018

“Dear Mary, Thank you for your service on the Council of Central Queensland University. It is with gratitude that I write to you acknowledging your contributions to the success of CQUniversity as a member of Council from 7 March 2013 to 9 February 2018. The role of Council member is extremely important to the successful governance and operation of the University.  CQUniversity has benefitted enormously as a result of your enthusiasm, professionalism, insightful and valued contributions, and selfless dedication of your time. Your support of, and commitment to, the University on its path of renewal, which has led to CQUniversity becoming a dynamic and positive contributor to the wellbeing and growth of Central Queensland, is greatly appreciated.  I think you can be truly proud to have been a member of Council which established CQUniversity as Queensland’s first comprehensive University.  Please accept my sincere thanks on behalf of the entire CQUniversity community.  I wish you well with your future endeavors, and look forward to your continued connection with your University.”

John Abbott | Chancellor, CQUniversity – April 2018

“Hey Mary. Just wanted to thank you for your help last week. We certainly got some air play out of your media release regarding assistance to stranded backpackers due to TC Debbie in northern Queensland. We have received messages from Tasmania and Townsville from people who saw the Channel 9 coverage and also got some feedback from an interview that I did with the ABC, so thanks again!. I often tell people that without the help from you and Capricorn Enterprise, running this business would be even harder. You helped us with Greyhound, you helped secure us the XXXX Island contract, you helped us with all of our media releases (most important was during the 2011 floods) Basically if anyone is a member and they don’t ask for your help, they are missing out – but you can only lead a horse to water!”

Paul Neubecker | Emus Beach Resort – April 2018

“I wanted to say I really enjoyed the Capricorn Enterprise Industry Celebration Night and thought this was an excellent event. From the businesses I spoke to that received awards, they all felt very proud to have their achievements recognised. I especially think recognising those businesses that have been around for a while, and being around for any length of time over 20 years is an amazing success story, was a great thing to do. We have proudly put our plaque on the wall in our reception area.  I met a few people who were interested in the Kennas story of being around for 121 years and I’ve gifted a book of our history to them.”

Darren Smith | Chartered Accountant, B. Bus, FPA – Business and Tax Consultant/Kennas -November 2017

“Many congratulations on a wonderful celebration of our industry at the inaugural Industry Celebration night on Saturday. Mary you choreographed the event beautifully – you did it so well.  It was a great celebration and for us wonderful to celebrate with staff and family.
I loved the “I know just the place “ video of Great Keppel Island and Geoff Mercer. I thought you captured the essence of Keppel – the beauty, the essential point of difference and I hope the decision makers take note and plan to preserve what is so very special but makes Keppel truly unique.”

Ann Augusteyn | Owner – Capricorn Caves – November 2017

“Congratulations to you for the vision to put together such a great Industry Celebration night on Saturday.
I know you really wanted everyone to get together to celebrate each others successes and have fun, and you NAILED IT!
Thank you for including us (Waterline Restaurant, Keppel Bay Marina), it was an honour to be the host of such a fun night and we have had so much great feedback.”

Kylie Smith General Manager – Keppel Bay Marina – November 2017

“Our RTO has been an amazing support unit for us.  As a small, growing business, they have offered mentoring and professional development opportunities for our team to ensure our staff are growing with the business.  We wouldn’t be where we are today without Capricorn Enterprise.”

Eloise Chaffers | Sales and Marketing – Great Keppel Island Hideaway – October 2017

Sarah Raciti |   Media and Trade Relations Specialist    Experience Engagement and Digital Channels, Tourism and Events Queensland – August 2017

“We just wanted to say what a great job Capricorn Enterprise are doing through all this (re: Fitzroy River Rockhampton flooding event).  I forwarded Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll’s “Fitzroy Flood Fast Facts” on to guests who were unsure if they could make it to Yeppoon or not and thankfully they arrived and said the information I sent was the best source of information they had! Thanks everyone.

Glenys & Gavan Hurley | Managers – Villa Mar Colina – Ocean Hillside Villas – April 2017

“I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Capricorn Enterprise and Digital Coaching International for this opportunity once again. Furthermore I would like to acknowledge and thank Emily, for her seamless planning, organisation and contribution to support this wonderful region and the business members I met who I affectionately call the ‘experience makers’ of our industry.
This is the third time I have had the pleasure to traverse the region carrying out one on one digital mentoring sessions to members with business owners and marketers at their business or home to support build their digital footprint. This experience has really highlighted to me once again the importance of the small business operator in our industry. Collectively it is experiences that bring out the best of a destination. Even more than that it is the people behind the experiences with their knowledge of regional history, authentic and eclectic personalities and passion (my favourite) of why they chose this destination and started their business here in the first place. I reveled in helping operators understand the importance of sharing their passion for their patch, the importance of sharing their stories through original content creation of how they started and why they love doing what they do to connect and attract visitors to the region FIRST, business second.
This experience has also really highlighted there is significant skills gaps in digital and social media marketing knowledge and I commend and acknowledge Mary and the team from Capricorn Enterprise every single time for placing their members first and creating these custimised industry training and development initiatives. It was refreshing to work with businesses in a way that it is all about the individual member. Member who chose to participate had our 100% focus and attention on each individual needs, strengths and resources to adapt training that inspires action, not overwhelm.
“Despina and Emily were just super supportive and at no time did I feel any questions were too simple. The two ladies have increased my confidence and my learning today.” Sue, Bell Park Caravan Park
It was a positive experience for all of us. Finally a message to the 17 Capricorn Enterprise members I met this week, each and every one of you are uniquely remarkable and I look forward to following, liking, commenting and sharing your experiences for years to come!

Despina Karatzias | Digital Strategist, Trainer & Mentor, Institute of Excellence – March 2017

“It is that time of year where we look at the position of the business and review our goals and achievements from the previous year. During this process we have seen that the Economic Gardening Program from two years ago has heavily influenced the future projections, decisions and choices that we have made since attending the program. This has made a huge impact to our ongoing outcomes. This year we have decided to change the direction of our marketing. This has been a decision that is supported by metrics we have collected over the past 2 years. I would like to thank Capricorn Enterprise for the opportunity and acknowledge the difference this has made.”

Jason Spence | Director / Microsoft Certified Professional, iassist – February 2017

“I attended last year’s Economic Gardening Program as I recognised the need to improve my skills in marketing our company’s services and improve our businesses efficiency. I found the program interesting, thought provoking and challenging with each topic well prepared and presented. Since graduating from this course we have taken on board much of what I learned and believe it has added value to our business. I would recommend this course to others”

Gerard Cullinane | Senior Architect, BEAT Architects – February 2017

“We were overjoyed to receive advice in late September that we had been successful in receiving a grant of $28,000, representing the total amount we had applied for. Our club members were ecstatic at this result and we all wish to now express our sincere thanks and appreciation for your strong support as one of our referees.”

Vern Donovan | Project Officer & Member, Yeppoon Tennis Club Inc – December 2016

The Hon Jane Prentice MP| Federal Member for Ryan – October 2016

“I have had the absolute pleasure of working with the fabulous team at Capricorn Enterprise and their remarkable CEO Mary Carroll in building regional industry capability, capacity and international marketing performance for the past six years. Over this time and under the inspired leadership and tenacity of Mary and her team I have seen their hard work and dedication result in the international and domestic market profile and brand recognition of the Capricorn region and Southern Great Barrier Reef destination lift to unprecedented heights. To my mind the overall performance of Capricorn Enterprise in support of their members, stakeholder and the wider regional community over the past six years or so has been exceptional and worthy of well-earned recognition and accolade. I would certainly like to thank Mary and her team for their on-going support of and focus on local industry development and most of all being an absolute dream to work with! Well done guys, great work!”

“Over the past 4 years our Tourism Consultancy business has had the honour of working in partnership with Capricorn Enterprise delivering Tourism Educational and mentoring programs identified through the strategic leadership of CEO Mary Carroll as being needed to sustain the future growth of Tourism for the region and the Tourism Business members.
The Capricorn Enterprise team always delights me with their passion for the region and their members, their diverse skill sets, never failing motivation to keep on improving and growing business for the Capricorn region and their members but most of all for the sincere empathy they have for understanding the day to day challenges that their members face in business. They are a team of action always relentless in looking for opportunities and sourcing funding to assist them.
The business development programs funded by Capricorn Enterprise that we have delivered over the past four years have included Yield Management workshops and mentoring, Domestic and International Trade Ready programs and in partnership with Capricorn Enterprise and Tourism Events Queensland a set of Experience Development and Leadership programs. All of these projects have been aligned with Capricorn Enterprise’s strategic plan of assisting businesses enhance their product and experience offering within the region and to be able to distribute these experiences both domestically and internationally and in doing so have delivered increased visitation, length of stay and spend not only for the operators but for the greater region.
I commend Capricorn Enterprise for their commitment to their members, their partnerships with the key stakeholders in the industry and for being one of the most energetic and passionate RTO’s that we have the pleasure of doing business, the Tourism Industry of the Capricorn Region is in great hands through your leadership. “

Amanda Kruse | Managing Director, Success Matrix – June 2016

“VISAGE Productions worked with the Capricorn Enterprise team on the recent OUR TOWN QUEENSLAND television series, which was broadcast on Channel 9 throughout the state and via GEM nationally.  From the very start the entire team’s enthusiasm towards being involved in the project and showcasing the Capricorn region made the entire process, from my initial contact through to final delivery, a pleasure to work on.  The team’s obvious passion and dedication towards the region shone through from the get-go and this showed in the final product on-display, where a great story was told.  During filming on-location and in the lead-up to our visit Mary and her team made everything come into place, involving the local community throughout.  It was a pleasure working with Capricorn Enterprise and I look forward to working with them again in the future.”

Lee Loraine | Producer/Director, Visage Productions – March 2016

“As the editor of Spirit of Regional Australia inflight magazine (QantasLink), I’ve long valued having a strong working relationship with regions throughout the airline’s nationwide network as a vital means for how we operate and how we can spread the message of what is happening in regional Australia. That is only possible when you get participation from local organisations and over the last 6 years of publication the most proactive of the regional groups has been Capricorn Enterprise. With their consistent energy to promote and communicate all aspects of what the region offers to visitors and investors, we’ve been able to showcase what Capricorn is all about and inform audiences across Australia.”

Paul Manias | Editor, Spirit of Regional Australia – March 2016

“Livingstone Shire Council has valued the professional and collaborative efforts of Capricorn Enterprise in their role in Destination Marketing, Business Support, Visitor Servicing and Investment Attraction.  The assistance, supporting documentation and lobbying support provided by Capricorn Enterprise played a key role in the successful submissions that secured Livingstone Shire Council more than $75 million in State & Federal funding over the past two years.  Livingstone has long recognised that no Local Government can achieve on its own the outcomes that can be achieved by taking a united and collaborative regional approach.”

Cr Bill Ludwig | Mayor Livingstone Shire Council – February 2016

“I have been a proud and active member and supporter of Capricorn Enterprise for many years. Capricorn Enterprise drives tourism and business growth in CQ by promoting the region as a desirable holiday destination across the region, state, nation and globe. Capricorn Enterprise also helps to diversify our local economy, grow jobs and encourage new industries to the region. Local tourism and our economy rely on the great work Capricorn Enterprise does.”

Brittany Lauga MP | State Member for Keppel – February 2016

“Every community needs an independent voice to advocate for business and economic needs, lead think tanks and undertake research into key infrastructure projects. Capricorn Enterprise is a high profile organisation that engages with the Commonwealth on many of these important matters. As the Federal Member of Parliament, I have been impressed by the organisation’s professionalism in advocating for Central Queensland. Capricorn Enterprise produce comprehensive reports, research and business cases that contribute to meaningful planning to advance our region’s economic growth and potential.”

Michelle Landry MP | Federal Member for Capricornia – February 2016

“Queensland’s strength lies in the diversity of its tourism destinations and the warm hospitality in regions like Capricorn. Tourism and Events Queensland values our partnership with Capricorn Enterprise as a key stakeholder in the Regional Tourism Network. The joint response to support industry following TC Marcia this year was an example of that partnership. There is also great potential in the continuing joint promotion of the Southern Great Barrier Reef and the range of experiences on offer. I congratulate Mary and the team on their five year anniversary and their leadership in promoting tourism in the Southern Great Barrier Reef region. We look forward to working closely with you in the future to deliver benefits for the local tourism industry in the period ahead.”

Leanne Coddington | CEO Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) – July 2015

“Capricorn Enterprise, with its very engaged CEO, has been able to play a very prominent role in QTIC’s state-wide work to advance the interests of our industry.  Through Ms Carroll’s leadership and support as the Chair of Queensland’s RTO Network, as a Director of QTIC and as a member of such important committees as the Drive Alliance, Capricorn’s regional interests have been strongly represented at every possible turn.  It is a credit to a regional organisation with limited resources to be so well respected amongst industry and government.”

Daniel Gschwind | Chief Executive Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) – July 2015

“Over the past year the Department of Transport and Main Roads has been working closely in partnership with Capricorn Enterprise to deliver new tourism signage along the Capricorn Way, one of Queensland’s ten State Strategic Touring Routes.  This program, which runs until June 2018, is delivering new natural attraction signage, welcome to town signage and State Strategic Touring Route signage on all of the State Strategic Touring Routes.  Delivery of the signage along Capricorn Way was implemented during the 2014/15 financial year.  The signage installed has received extremely positive feedback from the tourism industry and this successful project could not have been delivered without the incredible support, encouragement and collaboration of Capricorn Enterprise.  They did a tremendous job in pulling all the industry together and it was an absolute pleasure to be involved in this project with Capricorn Enterprise.”

Joanna Robinson | Director (Traffic Systems and Road Use), Department of Transport and Main Roads – July 2015

“ We strongly believe that Capricorn Enterprise’s relentless and tireless hard work to promote our region under the Southern Great Barrier Reef banner, both nationally and internationally has brought immense benefits to not just our own but our region’s local businesses. Few people realise how many TV crews, travel journalists and photographers visit our region every year courtesy of Capricorn Enterprise’s marketing vision. The awareness this creates of the beautiful place we live in is priceless for economic development. Huge amounts of money are spent every year, paid for by Capricorn Enterprise through their membership fees, to promote the Capricorn Region and Southern Great Barrier Reef on inflight magazines, on travel programs, at travel expos and to large holiday wholesalers like Sunlover Holidays. All these stories about our region collectively find their way into the world to transform a place we all know and love, into a place everyone will know and love, and most importantly, would want to travel to. ”
Laureth & Wayne Rumble | Pumpkin Island – November 2014

“ Capricorn Enterprise plays a key role in attracting people and investment to our Region to ensure ongoing growth. As a civil engineer, infrastructure development is a topic close to my heart, and I congratulate Capricorn Enterprise for channeling considerable energy into the consultation phase for the selection of seven priority projects for the Region. The established linkages to the Queensland Plan and the Four Pillars of the Queensland Economy will ensure we have the best chance of realising these critical pieces of infrastructure. Time and time again, it has been shown that without a united voice, and business and industry support, vital projects and key funding are lost to many regional areas of Queensland. Capricorn Enterprise provides this collective voice that is crucial to competing with other regional areas. I also firmly believe that Capricorn LaunchPad provides a solid and important platform to encourage and develop the Region’s future business leaders. This is achieved through the provision of strong networking opportunities and fostering an attitude of united community advancement amongst its active members. The tireless effort exhibited by Capricorn Enterprise in the promotion of the Capricorn Region makes a real difference to the success and the progression of our community. ”
Chris Hewitt | Associate Business Director, Flinders Hyder – November 2014

“ My personal/business experience with Capricorn Enterprise is that they are a bunch of truly dedicated professionals who are always incredibly helpful, thoughtful and motivated. As a tourism operator on Great Keppel Island for 35 years I have experienced the peaks and troughs more than once as the island takes its twists and turns. To have people that have never given up on this beautiful place and the people that work here is heart warming. The many photo shoots, motivational speakers, national and international travel famils, media coverage, travel and cooking shows and magazines with national coverage can take many months of organizing. The benefits of GKI flourishing is felt through the entire region as tourists empty their pockets in various ways as they are on their way for a 2 or 7 day holiday stay. The effort that goes into the development side of the region through constant lobbying of government departments, political leaders and national businesses is done I believe from both a head and a heart place by the staff of this Organization. Capricorn Enterprise staff and board members also bring to the table a broad base of contacts, and a real working knowledge of local government and state government legislation. As a community we need to have a greater appreciation of their unseen efforts that bring many events to fruition. Thank you once again for everbody’s efforts within this organization. I am here to assist you all when called upon. ”
Geoff Mercer | Owner/Manager, Great Keppel Island Holiday Village – November 2014

“ As owner/operators of a charter boat on the Capricorn Coast, we continue to benefit in many ways from our membership of Capricorn Enterprise. As a small business our marketing is greatly enhanced by being part of a larger organisation with the skills and resources to market our region as a whole and the products within it. We also find networking and training opportunities offered by Capricorn Enterprise to be invaluable in continuing to manage and grow our business. ”
Anthony & Vicki Lomasney | Owners, Sail Capricornia – November 2014

“ Since the year 2000 we have been raising funds for charity ie The Royal Flying Doctor Service and Variety, the Childrens Charity. The year 2014 saw us achieve extremely high goals with the inaugural Capricorn Colour Event, including a Golf Day for 280, High Tea for 250, Colour Ball for 300 and a Family Fun Run for 200, held over three days, which encompassed the presentation of international artists including the Queensland Pops Orchestra and Marusia Lowres of Andre Rieu fame. Immediately we sought the assistance of Mary Carroll and Capricorn Enterprise to ensure the success of this event. We could not have been happier. Capricorn Enterprise assisted us with organisation, contacts and seed funding. We are in the process of applying for a grant through Events Queensland for coming years and have secured the assistance of Capricorn Enterprise in this endeavour. ”
Leigh G Turnbull | President, Capricorn Colour Event – November 2014

“ Gracemere Industry Inc. appreciates the support Capricorn Enterprise has given the group over the past 18 months especially in the early days of the establishment of the industrial group representing business owners, landholders and investors in the GIA. In particular the assistance given to secure new businesses to the GIA in recent months has been a great result all round. These new businesses complement the existing businesses within the GIA without having to leave town to utilise facilities elsewhere. Statistics show increasing numbers employed in the GIA in the last 2 years. This is a great achievement in the present economic climate. The level of professionalism in all that Capricorn Enterprise does for business and in all media and presentation material is of the very highest standard. Well done Capricorn Enterprise. ”
Louise Ward | Secretary, Gracemere Industry Inc. – November 2014

“ Since we became members of Capricorn Enterprise and then my acceptance onto the Economic Development committee, I have come to understand how valuable this organisation is to the entire Central region. The organisation supports local businesses with extensive resources and assistance. Our business has used this resource with positive results. The entire central region has many opportunities for development and growth in areas such as tourism, education, medical, defence, agriculture and mining. Being part of the Capricorn Enterprise Economic Development Committee, I am pleased to be able to contribute in developing these areas to their best potential. Capricorn Enterprise plays a vital role in the economic viability, growth and promotion of this region. The organization is a source we all need to utilize and support. ”
Lauren McGregor | Business Development Manager, Australian Drug Detection Agency – November 2014

“ Our ongoing membership of Capricorn Enterprise is a relationship that reflects the important balance of business and tourism for this diverse region. Production of pineapples on the Capricorn Coast continues to be a vibrant regional industry with great opportunities for growth. Coupled to that, the great historical significance of pineapples to this region and the strong links to tourism and hospitality are part of the regions’ charm and tropical appeal. When Capricorn Enterprise brought Better Homes and Gardens to the region to feature our wonderful food production and diverse tourism offering, they achieved the perfect balance of promotion of our region, but also promoting our local produce and continuing to drive consumption across Australia. This is an enterprise that works hard to bring real results and keeps putting the Capricorn region on the map. ”
Joe Craggs | Sales & Marketing Director, Tropical Pineapples – November 2014

“ Launching Yeppoon’s newest Accommodation destination, Oshen Yeppoon was a monumental task. Without the assistance of Capricorn Enterprise, the business would not be what it is today. From inviting the Tourism Minister to our official launch, being a driving force with our launch campaign and constant advice regarding operational and digital advertising support, Capricorn Enterprise were there every step of the way. The Capricorn Region is incredibly lucky to have such a visionary tourism body who go the extra mile and think outside the box to build the profile of the region. ”
Adam Chamberlain | Marketing Manager, Oshen Apartments – November 2014

“ From the gorges of the Central Highlands to the beautiful beaches of the Capricorn Coast- there’s no denying that our region is blessed with a rich diversity in its attractions. Each area is unique and has its own charms to offer and Capricorn Enterprise maintains a valued role in not only promoting our greater region as a whole but also supporting each of its members and their individual areas. The production of publications such as the annual Visitor Guide, coordination of visits from the likes of Creek to Coast, and providing continuous destination support are but some of the key activities this organisation undertakes – ensuring that our region and the individual gems within it are well promoted. As a fellow member of Capricorn Enterprise, this is something we know firsthand and greatly appreciate. ”
Camille Steinberger | Project Officer, Mount Morgan Promotion & Development – November 2014

“ I wish to express my gratitude to Capricorn Enterprise for marketing our region throughout Australia and the world, attracting tourism, investors and businesses to our region. The whole of region approach has led the successful marketing of regional diversity and the wide range of opportunities we offer. Highlighting the interdependence of the diverse CQ communities has ultimately created a more united and dynamic business community. Capricorn Enterprise is well placed to continue to market a vision for CQ that reflects the growing maturity of our community and ensures a balanced approach to ensure that future development and opportunities attract the necessary economic, social and cultural infrastructure and benefits that are essential to a successful and cohesive community. ”
Catherine George | General Manager, Georges Workwear & Country Outfitters – November 2014

“ Quest Rockhampton became a member of Capricorn Enterprise several months prior to our opening in September 2013. We have found Capricorn Enterprise to be integral in assisting us both pre and post the development of Quest Rockhampton providing crucial statistical, operational and marketing advice. Since joining we have participated in the Trade Mentoring Program and have also hosted a Members Networking night and business events which have  assisted not just our business, but our ability to stay connected with our business community. In addition to individual operator support, Capricorn Enterprise plays a crucial role in the development of this destination and region. ”
Mandy Fallon & Graham Archer | Franchisees, Quest Rockhampton – November 2014

“ The support provided by Capricorn Enterprise to Gemfest – ‘Festival of Gems’ has been invaluable for the event. Without their support, we do not receive funding support from the Regional Events program via the state government, and in addition they co-ordinate our public relations and media campaign. Gemfest ‘Festival of Gems’ has been a member of Capricorn Enterprise and its predecessor Capricorn Tourism, for around 20 years. Our close working relationship has been crucial to the success of the event and to the Gemfields community, who rely on the inflow of visitors for business and for clubs and associations to raise funds for vital services. ”
Linda Drake | Secretary, 2014 Gemfest – Festival of Gems – November 2014

“The past five years has seen CQUniversity become the second fastest growing University in the nation and the largest University in regional Australia, the first comprehensive University in Queensland, and the biggest employer in the Capricorn region. Supporting us 110% has been Capricorn Enterprise, every step of the way. Whether it be through their incredible advocacy, their extensive networks, their powerful political influence or their dogged persistence, Capricorn Enterprise has worked with CQUniversity to secure some of our proudest achievements such as the merger of CQ TAFE and CQUniversity. Whatever our challenge or opportunity, Capricorn Enterprise makes it their own. This region is beginning to reach its full potential because of Capricorn Enterprise.”
Professor Scott Bowman | Vice Chancellor, CQUniversity – November 2014

“ The assistance provided to Homecorp for “The Pines” estate by Capricorn Enterprise has been incredible – provision of images, statistics, networks and confidence in this region many months prior to our launch was professional and of an exceptionally high standard. No other regional organisation has been as helpful, professional and passionate about their destination. This region should be proud to have a team like this promoting investment attraction, population growth and the tourism industry. In fact the detail and precise information available from Capricorn Enterprise was a key factor in preparing the business case to invest further in the region and give Homecorp the confidence to prepare a ten year plan of development. ”
David Young | Acquisitions & Special Projects Manager, Homecorp Group – November 2014

“As a small business owner, the networking I receive by being a member of Capricorn Enterprise is fantastic and I have met some wonderful business owners by attending these events over several years. My support for this Organisation is because I appreciate the critical role they play in investment attraction and destination marketing for the Capricorn Coast. Much of what they do goes unnoticed, but many don’t realise that when you see this area promoted in airline magazines, travel sections in newspapers and television shows, the team at Capricorn Enterprise has been responsible behind the scenes. I believe the recent Southern Great Barrier Reef promotion has been successful in bringing awareness of what CQ has to offer on our beautiful Capricorn Coast. The recent School Holiday period was buzzing with people! ”
Helen Schweikert | CapCoast Home Loans – November 2014

“Great Keppel Island Hideaway would not be where it is, if it wasn’t for Capricorn Enterprise. The team has helped us every single step of the way, from the launch of our business in July 2013 (assistance with website, images, booking system, marketing plan) to tourism trade mentoring programs, national film crews (Queensland Weekender and Better Homes & Gardens), access to State government Ministers and constant promotion of Great Keppel Island through print, TV, radio and on-line marketing. As a small business themselves, Capricorn Enterprise understands the day to day challenges of their business Members and all businesses should be a part of this highly regarded Organisation.”
Sean Appleton | Partner, Great Keppel Island Hideaway – November 2014

“The speed at which we have been able to gain an understanding of the region, meet key stakeholders and service providers, and then subsequently announce the launch of the $75M Gracemere Industry Park is largely due to the expertise and networks of Capricorn Enterprise, an Organisation we think is critical for the region’s continued economic development.”
Matthew Gibb | Managing Director, The Gibb Group – April 2013

“ In the more than 30 years I have been working within the Real Estate industry, no other association that our business has dealt with, has been as effective, as engaging and as successful as Capricorn Enterprise within the arenas of new property developments and events presentations and promotions. The attraction to many of our clients, is that the organisation is a stand-alone entity with a depth of resources, experience and advices that creates confidence with the various companies and corporations allowing plans to be actioned into reality. ”
Pat O’Driscoll | Principal, Pat O’Driscoll Real Estate – April 2013

“ As a tourism operator over the past 25 years we’ve been involved in various local and regional organisations, but in the past 3 years under one co-ordinated banner Capricorn Enterprise has delivered a more professional, effective and higher level of service, mentoring and support. More than ever we need Capricorn Enterprise to provide a united voice for our region. ”
Ann Augusteyn | Owner, Capricorn Caves – April 2013

“ To-date our companies have constructed and continues to construct a total of $155M worth of developments on Rockhampton’s riverbank and Yeppoon’s Main Beach, employing over 1,000 people during construction, numerous jobs since construction, and adding an additional 357 rate payers. I have sought invaluable advice and assistance from Capricorn Enterprise regarding industry trends, meeting with financiers and marketers about the region. For any larger project (over $20M at cost) in a regional centre, it is critical to gain the confidence and support of head office financiers, who usually view any major project outside major centres with increased risk. I can say without question that our company would think twice before undertaking any further significant projects in the region without the assistance and support of an organisation such as Capricorn Enterprise. ”
Andrew Beaumont | Eaton Hills | Salt Yeppoon, Empire
Rockhampton, Echelon Yeppoon, The Edge Apartments – April 2013

“ Capricorn Enterprise is working for we, the tourist operators and our community on a daily basis, without us even realising most of the time. This is particularly evident in helping to push the Great Keppel Project over the line, which was a much needed development for our area. To drive this enterprise, you need people with passion for our area, commitment and the will to put in long long hours. The onflow to the community is huge. ”

Robyn Madigan | Owner, Island View Caravan Park – April 2013

“ Tourism can come at a cost to regional communities if visitors spend little money but draw heavily on the region’s natural and human resources, infrastructure and services. Therefore Tourism has to be well planned & managed to ensure maximum benefits for the regional community. Without Capricorn Enterprise at the forefront promoting our region we would be but a mere speck on the Queensland Coast. ”
Vanessa Ramswarup | Franchisee, The Coffee Club Yeppoon Esplanade – April 2013

“ Our affiliation with Capricorn Enterprise as a founding supporter has been very beneficial in the success of the local tourism region driving economic growth in Capricorn. The support and guidance of Capricorn Enterprise during their previous 3 years has been instrumental in many events for which have enhanced our region and grown our brand on both a domestic and global stage. Our unique and diverse region requires a dedicated focus from a visionary organisation like Capricorn Enterprise and to jeopardise this in anyway would have a detrimental effect on our destination and economic growth in the future. ”
Jonathan Dean | General Manager, Mercure Capricorn Resort – April 2013

“ With so much competition for tourism in Queensland alone the importance of a unified voice is essential. I wholeheartedly support the team at Capricorn Enterprise. Any reduction in funding will have a direct effect for tourism in the region which would flow on to the local economy. I urge Council (both RRC and LSC) to support this critical organisation for the future of the Capricorn Coast and greater region. ”
David Shannon | Director, The Strand Yeppoon – April 2013

“ As an ex Board member of CTDO for many years and occupying the Chairman’s position as well, I recall that the dream (and effort) was to get all the tourism and industry organisations under the one banner just as the more successful regional organisations had done. The greatest threat to this happening was inward thinking and parochialism of some within the region. Capricorn Enterprise was modelled after the Townsville Tourism and Industry group – Townsville Enterprise, which had fared so well in influencing the State and Federal Governments to support their regional cause.

To dismantle the core of Capricorn Enterprise would be to set back the clock to those days when Rockhampton saw itself as being separate from the regional effort for recognition and status with the State and Federal governments. Rockhampton is now what it was then – a service centre and gateway to the coast, the Central Highlands and Mt Morgan, all of which contribute to our region as a whole. The old saying that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts applies here. To lose one part of the whole would disenfranchise the rest. United and solid we must remain. ”
John Lever | Owner, Koorana Crocodile Farm – April 2013

“ Starting out in a new industry, Capricorn Enterprise’s training and mentor programs have fast-tracked us into developing a tourism business which is at the forefront of the industry. For those of us who are willing to learn, Capricorn Enterprise’s active input to our core business and their infinite supply of industry knowledge and advice is invaluable. Capricorn Enterprise is a team of active community leaders who take pride in uniting our region and putting it on the map. If we are going to compete in these challenging economic times against the likes of the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Brisbane, interstate and international hotspots we need a united team effort. The Capricorn Enterprise visitor centres and their work with international wholesalers are some of the only successful local initiatives that are bringing legitimate tourism to our area. The region has missed out on so much of the tourism pie already because we have failed to support the people who are at the coalface trying to influence positive change. Capricorn Enterprise is a professional organisation that is always looking at the big picture and embracing new ideas and technology. ”
Shae O’Reilly | Manager – Marketing, Rosslyn Bay Resort & Beaches Bistro – April 2013

“ Capricorn Enterprise supports the WHOLE Capricorn region, not just for tourism but as a place for families too. For example without their support for the Mud Army, it would not have been as well publicised. It would not have had the media attention or number of volunteers, and we would not have the locals thinking that people cared. Capricorn Enterprise is essential for a community such as Rockhampton Girls Grammar. They provide an invaluable channel for sharing information about events and special functions, opportunities to align calendars/events to maximize impact, links and current information regarding our community, promotion of the CQ region, media exposure for not-forprofits, opportunities to access visiting personalities and celebrities, representation and advocacy with government/regulatory bodies. ”
James Lye | Director of Students, Rockhampton Girls Grammar School – April 2013

“ The services provided by Capricorn Enterprise are crucial for the continued development of the Central Queensland region. Capricorn Enterprise is the first point of contact for businesses considering investment in the region as they provide up to date, unbiased, non-bureaucratic information and advice. The organisation is wholly committed to the development of the entire region and has been extremely vocal and supportive of attempts to entice events and businesses here. If Capricorn Enterprise was no longer a part of our community it would be detrimental to the future possibilities for the region. ”
Geoff Murphy | Managing Director, JM Kelly Group of Companies – April 2013

“ Keppel Bay Marina is a Gold Member of Capricorn Enterprise and is fully supportive of the organisation and its integral role in the coordination and representation of our region on the State, National and International stage. It is essential that Capricorn Enterprise continue their role in representing our region, and continues to take a coordinated approach to building tourism and economic development for the entire region. It is because historically the independent local organisations and separate economic development organisations were neither viable nor a strong enough voice that Capricorn Enterprise was formed. Rockhampton Regional Council as the hub of the region must continue to support Capricorn Enterprise with the added support of Livingstone Shire Council. This is the time to work together to make our region stronger, Capricorn Enterprise is in a unique position to be able to achieve this and continue to build on the solid foundations the organisation has in place today. ”

Kylie Smith | General Manager, Keppel Bay Marina – April 2013

“ We are very disappointed to learn there are moves afoot to reduce the funding and role of Capricorn Enterprise. We are the new operators/managers of Echelon Apartments in Yeppoon and look forward to working with a professional marketing group like Capricorn Enterprise. The Chief Executive took the time to meet with us 18 months ago when we were looking at different resorts in different locations in CQ and her enthusiasm and knowledge helped convince us to buy into Yeppoon. Since taking over here, we have attended some of their functions, met the staff and have been impressed by their quality and knowledge. Capricorn Enterprise perform a similar role to Townsville Enterprise and when we ran Mariners North in Townsville we were able to improve our business through a number of their marketing initiatives including co-operative promotions. Tourism is a very competitive business in Australia right now with the rise in our currency. Most domestic tourist destinations are doubling their marketing efforts. It’s hard to believe with the potential we have here that the Council is looking to cut back in this vital area in order to save a few dollars. ”
Geoff Schurmann | Manager, Echelon Yeppoon – April 2013

“ It is disturbing to say the least that the tourism industry again is going to be disadvantaged by bureaucracy at a local level. We as a tour company endorse the region as a destination for a number of our tours taking in Heron Island, Carnarvon Gorge, The Capricorn Coast, Great Keppel Island & Gemfields. The region itself is fragile in regard to tourism with the ongoing struggle for accommodation due to the coal and gas development. The exposure we get for membership alone supporting Capricorn Enterprise is fantastic. Agent famils, National and International Road Shows showcasing this spectacular region most definitely affects the success of our tour program with very strong bookings and in fact these programs are the most successful in our program. We have ridden out the storm with the Great Keppel Island development, and we can only see prosperity in the region because of it. Capricorn Enterprise has given its ongoing support to tourism, and we realise that this support can only come from the region itself. If ever a region was to support the tourism industry, it is the Capricorn Region. ”
Toni Brennan | Chief Executive Officer, Fun Over 50 – April 2013

“ Capricorn Enterprise is vital to our Region in both Tourism and Economic Development. Personally I refer investors to our region to Capricorn Enterprise as often Council are hand tied (for whatever reason) to offer the same information that Capricorn Enterprise does. Prior to Capricorn Enterprise, there was very little collated information as there were a number of organisations that had poor communication. One call to Capricorn Enterprise is a great time saver. The Economic Profile is a great tool, which also did not previously exist. The continual hard work and high profile that Capricorn Enterprise provide our region is a must. Especially in the face of de-amalgamation as we need Capricorn Enterprise more than ever to unify our region. I am a coastal resident yet have businesses in Rockhampton, therefore I am a firm believer we need to remain united and Capricorn Enterprise is currently the only one that is doing this. ”
Sherylene Lingen | Propietor, Design Real Estate – April 2013

“ The team at Capricorn Enterprise do a brilliant job to promote the Central Queensland region – not only as a terrific place to visit but to invest and live. I can attest to the fantastic support provided by Capricorn Enterprise to our international event, which attracted 85,000 patrons in 2012. In my previous role as Chief Executive for the Rockhampton Jockey Club (2009-2012), the Capricorn Enterprise team were always available to assist in the promotion of our 45 race meetings and in particular the Winter and Spring Racing Carnivals. Upon completion of the new $2M Members’ Grandstand redevelopment, they offered assistance in promoting the facility as a new function centre resulting in many bookings and enquiries. There are many fabulous places to stay and live in Queensland – Capricorn Enterprise work with all stakeholders to ensure that our region’s voice and images are heard and seen – through a first class website, e-marketing, advertising and printed collateral. One only need to look at Capricorn Enterprise assisting to secure the $600M Great Keppel Island redevelopment and the PGA Bid, that this team of talented hard working professionals needs the continued financial support of the Rockhampton Regional Council to continue their great work. ”
Denis Cox | Chief Executive Officer – Beef Australia – April 2013

“ The recent approval by State and Federal governments for the Great Keppel Island revitalisation would not have been possible without the incredible support right from the start by Capricorn Enterprise. ”
Anthony Aiossa, Project Manager, Tower Holdings – March 2013

“ Our recently announced $75M Gracemere Industrial Precinct is largely due to the expertise and networks of Capricorn Enterprise, a critical organisation for the region’s economic development. “
Matthew Gibb, Managing Director The Gibb Group – March 2013

“ There is absolutely no doubt that the merger of CQUniversity/CQTAFE Dual sector would not have come this far without the efforts of Capricorn Enterprise. ”
Professor Scott Bowman, CQUniversity March 2013

“ Longstanding support from Capricorn Enterprise helped Oshen Yeppoon commence construction in October 2012, ensuring the delivery of quality accommodation for the Capricorn Coast. ”
Sandy Murdoch Director Concept Living Properties P/L – March 2013
