Local Capricorn Coast businesses are all smiles following a bumper Christmas and New Year period. Great weather coupled with the opening of Yeppoon’s new foreshore water park, ‘Keppel Kracken’, has ensured an even busier than expected period for the Coast’s Retail and Hospitality businesses.
Capricorn Enterprise’s Tourism & Marketing Manager, Deanne Bowd, said, “It was great to see the region so vibrant over the Christmas period. It has been a tough 12 months for many people and it’s so pleasing to see local business leading the way and making the most of this busy time.”
“The team at Capricorn Enterprise has been working hard to achieve results like this for the region. Over the past 12 months we have had a strategic and collaborative focus on product development, management and marketing within our region, which undoubtedly has attributed to this stronger visitor growth, Ms Bowd said.”
The Capricorn Coast also celebrated the opening of a number of new businesses and attractions in the lead up to the Christmas break, including, the eagerly awaited Yeppoon’s Foreshore Water Park – ‘Keppel Kraken’ and Salt Beachfront Yeppoon Apartments.
With a large percentage of accommodation businesses experiencing extremely high to full occupancy over the Festive period, a number of operators have stated that this is the busiest Christmas they have experienced in over 5 years.
Mary Carroll, CEO of Capricorn Enterprise, said, “The team at Capricorn Enterprise have already planned an action packed calendar for Tourism, Economic Development and Events marketing of the Capricorn region for the year ahead and are once again eager to promote LIVE, WORK, PLAY and INVEST in our fantastic destination.”
