Following recent media reports, Capricorn Enterprise understands that the Iwasaki Sangyo Company would need to apply to the Coordinator-General to change the scope and terms of the reference for the Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed $600 million Capricorn Integrated Resort Development to include a 2000m long airstrip for international flights.
Work is well underway on the EIS for the project.
The proposed redevelopment in the current coordinated project EIS includes:
- 300-room, five-star resort, including a golf course
- caravan and recreational vehicle park
- Wagyu cattle farm
- residential community of 8000 dwellings and village centre
- conservation precinct
- a residential airstrip
