CQUniversity Village Festival, Yeppoon – 11-13th August 2017
This year’s event to be held on the beachfront Yeppoon (with gigs at venues around town), is set to be the biggest yet!
The CQUniversity Village Festival is Central Queensland’s Premier Music, Arts and Cultural celebration. The Festival has been held annually since 2003 and provides a vibrant mix of music, performing and visual arts, children’s festival, street theatre, workshops and food and market stalls.
Nearly 40 Artists this year will include headline acts; The Whitlams, Elixir featuring Katie Noonan, The Wilson Pickers, Sara Storer, Casey Marie and many more as well as popular local talent The Short Fall, Little Mountain, MotherLove, Kristan Hannaford, Brad Butcher, Aristokatz, Will Hearn, Y.U.M, Capricorn Gospel Choir, Sophie Rose, Sha’Waza Dance, Saltwater Citizens and Weathered.
Join in the fun at Coastal Grooves, Sunday Seaviews, Redfoot Cabaret, Beaches Got Talent Grand Final, Sunday Session, Friday and Saturday Chai Lounge, Hall Yoga, School Yard Games, Hall Workshops, songs from the Shire and Jumble Sale!
I have personally seen this event grow from the school yard of the Farnborough State School back in 2003 with 500 visitors, then from 2006 for a decade at the Yeppoon Pony Club which it outgrew and moved to popular Yeppoon beachfront location in 2014 where 15,000 people can celebrate the region’s premier arts and cultural event.

Sarah Storer will be a headline Act at this year’s Gemfest celebrations thanks to ‘Legend and the Locals’ Tour organized by Little Mountain & Regional QLD Locals.
CQUniversity’s LEGEND & THE LOCALS is an annual tour (featuring a different Australian music Legend each year) of Regional Queensland communities. The much loved music ‘Legend’ is accompanied by an up and coming support act, and invites locals to join the show for unique collaborations.
The tour stays for two days in each town, with the ‘Legend’ connecting with the community on the first day through workshops. The entire day is dedicated to honing the skills of the locals, developing collaborations, and preparing them to step onto the stage, side by side with the Legend. The second day is reserved for rehearsals with the locals, followed by the awe inspiring show in the evening, featuring the hits of the ‘Legend’, and showcasing the talents of the locals. A truly ‘once in a lifetime’ experience!
In 2017 CQUniversity’s Legend & the Locals will be collaborating with a minimum of 360 regional QLD locals through orchestras, bands, choirs and individual musicians in twelve towns across the state: Yeppoon, Mount Morgan, Monto, Gympie, Proserpine, Mackay, Collinsville, Capella, Sapphire Gemfields, Blackall, Hughenden and Moranbah
All of this is made possible through the generous support of the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland’s Playing Queensland Fund, and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal with thanks to the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation
