CQ businesses reap up to $4 million in design phase of Shoalwater Bay expansion

Central Queensland businesses are already benefiting from the economic opportunities being generated by the expansion of the Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area under the $2 Billion Australia-Singapore Military Training Initiative (ASMTI). Sixteen companies from Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone and surrounds have been participating in the design phase of this major project, providing engineering, geotechnical and surveying services. Laing O’Rourke, managing contractor for the expansion has made great progress in engaging local industry to date with many more opportunities to come.
