Bunnings to join Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre
Posted on March 25th, 2020
Property developer Gibb Group is excited to announce that they will soon commence the development of a new Bunnings Warehouse in the first stage of the $35m Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre. The Bunnings Warehouse development application was lodged with Livingstone Shire Council on 23 March, and represents the last of the applications to be lodged for Stage 1 of the Centre. The application comes after Council’s completion of civil and earthworks at the site, co-funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program.
If approved, the Bunnings Warehouse development application will see a new 8,900sqm store constructed – over 7000sqm larger than the region’s existing store. Gibb Group has advised it hopes to see the project completed in 2021.
The Bunnings Warehouse development alone is likely to support up to 100 construction jobs and more than 60 additional team member jobs upon completion for the region. Gibb Group expects that the operational jobs number will double with the inclusion of other new tenants Hungry Jacks, Gus’s Coffee and Fresh Trading Co. The Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre will enhance and develop the region’s retail sector, and boost the local economy both upon completion and during construction phases.
Gibb Group’s National Development Director , Matthew Thiselton, states: “We are really excited to be selected to develop this important project for the region and to secure quality national tenants to the Coast. This is another sign of confidence in this development and follows earlier announcements of the opening of Reece Plumbing, and the lodgement of development applications for first-time to Coast retailers Hungry Jacks, Gus’s Coffee and food and petrol outlet Fresh Trading Co.”
He added, “Since our first exposure to the region over 10 years ago, off the back of opportunities to develop the Toll NQX facility and Gracemere Industry Park, we have been actively looking for opportunities in the region. This project has been a significant one for Gibb Group and Livingstone Shire Council for many years and it is great to finally get to a position of having all the development applications lodged and one of our tenants operating.”
“We believe in this region, and through securing national tenants of this calibre, we have given the Coast the best opportunity to ensure the sustainability of this Centre into the future.”
Ongoing announcements about Centre’s construction and timelines will be released by Gibb Group over the coming months.
