Backyard holiday a success

It was high-fives and excitement all round for the first winners of our Holiday at Home Family Competition, which reached over 9,000 locals on Facebook in the first week and welcomed more than 45 fabulous entries.
Yeppoon mother of three, Linda Jaffray and her family creatively showcased their ‘holiday in the backyard’ which was jam-packed full of imagination, spirit, adventure and humour.
Turning their camping trip, wildlife exploration, gnarly surf moves and stargazing wishes into an awesome local ‘Boredom Buster Pack’, the ‘Jaffa’s’ were thrilled to take out the week one win.
“We all had so much fun creating the video and it kept us well entertained for the week. The kids kept coming up with more and more ideas and had such a great time creating it,” said Linda.
The family’s prize contained a Family Tour Pass to Capricorn Caves, an $80 voucher for Keppel Bay Sailing Club, a Donut Making Kit from Artizan Gluten Free Bakery, and a bunch of games and activities for the kids.
The competition will run for another two weeks with the next lucky winner being chosen on Friday 24th April. There are two more prizes up for grabs, each worth over $250. Every prize is a little different and is supporting local businesses.
The ‘Holiday at Home’ competition encourages families with young children to use imaginary play to recreate their favourite holiday experience from the comfort of their own home or backyard.
So whether it’s relaxing in the backyard coastal ‘resort’, fossicking for garden treasures, fantasy fishing in the home headwaters or cooking up a culinary storm with a pretend creation from your favourite restaurant, it’s time to show us how holidaying is done in your neck of the woods.
