Shaping successful industry at the 2022 Major Industry Forum
Posted on October 18th, 2022
Held at the Frenchville Sports Club and sponsored by Gold Partners – CQG Consulting and NBN Co, the Capricorn Enterprise 2022 Major Industry Forum proudly gathered over 100 local industry partners to discuss a range of topics across three key themes including Health and Education, Regional Projects and Futures, and Energy, Manufacturing and Digital.
Now in its sixth year, and under a new name, the respected premier industry event took place on Thursday 13th October, welcoming 12 experts to present on key issues currently impacting the region, together with future opportunities.
With Queensland outperforming the rest of Australia over the past years, based on a range of factors including a surge in net interstate migration, a booming mining sector in a time of high commodity prices, and continued growth in tourism visitation and expenditure, Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll said the Forum aimed to foster discussion, collaboration and futureproof the high level of investment and development being rolled out across the area.
“The diverse range of guests speakers presented critical information, including results, challenges, strengths, and future outlooks on relevant topics, all leading to another decade of development,” Mary said.
“With everyone in the room striving for similar outcomes which will continue to drive significant economic development and growth across the region, attendees received first-hand information from the industry leaders heading up billions of dollars’ worth of projects and initiatives.”
Presenters at the Forum included: Dr Emma McCahon (Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service), Associate Professor Sunday Pam (University of Queensland Rural Clinical School), Associate Professor Sonia Saluja (Central Queensland University), Dr Vicki Richmond (Fitzroy Community Hospice), Tony Gambling (Regional Development Australia), Dave Grenfell (Apprentices and Trainees Queensland), Nathan St John (Construction Skills Queensland), Brian Hooper (Keppel Bay Convention and Sporting Hub/Brian Hooper Architects), Trent Miles (All Industries Group), Greg Piper (Yurika), Rick Hospers (NBN Co) and Jamie Wilson (Gryptoloc Technology).
Construction Skills Queensland’s Data Insights Manager, Nathan St John delivered powerful figures showing that Central Queensland’s $21 billion strong Civil projects (2022 – 2024) are the highest in the State, ahead of Brisbane, while Dr Richmond from the Fitzroy Community Hospice delivered a heartfelt presentation on the journey from fruition to creation of this anticipated and vital facility, the first of its kind for Central Queensland.
Following each session, a Q&A opportunity took place, providing delegates with the opportunity to delve further into areas of interest, and an informal networking event was held at the day’s conclusion.
