Southern Great Barrier Reef promoted in UK and Europe!

For 5 days and nights across 6 events this week (3-8 Dec), Eloise Chaffers is representing the Southern Great Barrier Reef destination at “Queensland is Calling”, Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) roadshow to UK and Europe.  A huge delegation of Queensland products and destinations are demonstrating why the Sunshine state is a must visit in the land down under!

Promoting the incredible diversity, natural beauty and boutique experiences contracted with tourism trade from the Capricorn Coast/Rockhampton region, the Gladstone/Town of 1770/Agnes Water region and Bundaberg region which make up the Southern Great Barrier Reef, our destination is being promoted to more than 60 key Product Managers and 90 Agents:

  • 20 x UK/Northern Europe Product Managers
  • 20 x Germany and Switzerland Product Managers
  • 10 X Italy Product Managers
  • 10 X France Product Managers
  • 30 X Agents (in Central Paris)
  • 30 X German agents
  • 30 X UK agents

Eloise has reported the first two days to be “EXCELLENT”, meeting with 66 quality European buyers from Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, France, Germany, Sweden and UK in Chantilly, France with face to face 8 minute appointments.  After a networking event in Paris that evening, the following day she met more retail agents in Dusseldorf, which will be followed by more retail agents in London on Thursday.

Some of these key Product Managers have visited our destination on famils earlier this year as well as in pre-pandemic years, with the last Tourism Trade show of this kind held in 2019 and attended by Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll on behalf of the Southern Great Barrier Reef destination.   Many of these Product Managers also attend the annual Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) each year, so over the years, Team SGBR have built up strong connections with our colleagues who are pro-actively selling our experiences to their clients in Europe and the UK.

Participation in this Tourism Trade event would not be possible without our Export Marketing Development Grant (EMDG) and our Southern Great Barrier Reef partnership with GAPDL (Gladstone Area Promotion Development Ltd) and Bundaberg Tourism, with this important Tourism Trade Mission organised and led by Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ).  Collaboration is key to everything we do on behalf of this great destination.
