Queensland Weekender explores the Capricorn Coast region seeking sustainability and Island adventure

Filming two separate stories, presenter Chris Parsons and his talented crew from Channel 7’s Queensland Weekender spent three days exploring our destination, gathering content to promote sustainability and Island adventure on the Capricorn Coast.

Kicking off Day 1 with a true ‘paddock to still’ micro distillery experience with Reef Distillers, Chris and the team indulged in the exquisite tastes of organic gins and vodkas, all while learning why Laureth, Shane and the team at Reef place such high importance on sustainability.

High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm was next on the agenda for Chris and the crew, who spent time with Ross to hear about his passion for wellness and sustainable development. After discovering the Farm’s 2-acre market garden and 2-acre food forest, along with their solar powered farmhouse, gravity fed irrigation systems, and more, the crew bunkered down for the night at High Valley Dawn Permaculture Farm’s new accommodation, which will be opened to the public soon!

Day 2 started at Keppel Bay Marina, before the crew jumped aboard Funtastic Cruises luxury catamaran to sail across to Great Keppel Island, and on the way enjoyed some snorkelling, local hotspots, and the magic of the Southern Great Barrier Reef. On arrival at Great Keppel Island, the crew checked into Great Keppel Island Hideaway for the night.

The final day of filming started with diving options available from the Island, before cracking on with thrilling adventure on Keppel Bay’s new fast boat – The Kraken.

Capricorn Enterprise, with the support of our local operators, commissioned the popular Channel 7 lifestyle show, Queensland Weekender to produce two episodes for the Capricorn Coast region.

Stay tuned for airing dates!
