National Volunteer Week 2024: ‘Something for Everyone’ at the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre

During National Volunteers’ Week Monday 20th May to Sunday 26th May, Capricorn Enterprise would like to send out a great big THANK YOU to all volunteers at the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre. National Volunteers’ Week recognises the diverse passions and talents everyone brings to the act of volunteering and shows that volunteering is ‘Something for Everyone’.

Our 31 fantastic volunteers do an amazing job promoting the Capricorn Coast, our Members and the wider community to our visitors. With 17,000 to 18,000 visitors annually and approximately 1700 phone inquiries each year, these volunteers selflessly contribute approximately 6000 hours of their time to ensure every visitor’s experience is memorable.

While we always appreciate our wonderful, hard-working volunteers, National Volunteers’ Week is a time for publicly recognising and acknowledging just how important they are in organisations such as ours. Without them, we would have a much harder time in promoting our great destination.

As part of our celebrations, our Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre volunteers are being treated to a night out at the newly renovated Strand Hotel.

While we recognise the talents and local knowledge that all our volunteers bring, this year marks a special anniversary for one particular volunteer, with Robyn McIntyre achieving 15 years of service with the Centre. In her 15 years, on top of her regular weekly shifts at the Centre, Robyn has represented the Capricorn Coast at four (4) Caravan and Camping shows around the country.

If Robyn isn’t at the Visitor Information Centre, you may find her at her other volunteer positions at The Capricorn Coast Hospital Auxiliary, Food Relief Capricorn Coast, and The Show Society.   She particularly enjoys the Visitor Information Centre because she loves meeting new people, having a chat and promoting our area to the visitors….and says it keeps her out of trouble.
