Event Organisers Invited to Apply for Round 2 of 2024/25 Event Sponsorship Program

Livingstone Shire Council is excited to announce the opening date of the next round of its Event Sponsorship Program for 2024/25, reaffirming its commitment to supporting a diverse range of events that enrich the community and draw visitors to the region.

Whether it’s a cultural festival, sporting event, or a community gathering, these events play a crucial role in showcasing the unique character of Livingstone Shire. They not only enhance the vibrancy of the community but also contribute significantly to the local economy by attracting visitors and fostering community pride.

This round of sponsorship offers a valuable opportunity for event organisers to secure financial or in-kind assistance for events scheduled between January 1 and June 30, 2025.

With an annual budget exceeding $200,000, the Event Sponsorship Program is designed to amplify the economic and social benefits of local events, providing support for a wide range of activities, from small community events to larger-scale initiatives.

Recreation and Culture Committee Co-Chair, Councillor Andrea Friend, noted the tremendous success of the program’s previous rounds in 2023.

“The variety of events supported in earlier rounds highlights the community’s enthusiasm and creativity. Event organisers are essential in delivering experiences that enhance Livingstone’s cultural and social landscape,” Councillor Friend said.

“Your events play a vital role in the region’s appeal, drawing visitors and enriching the local community,” she added.

Councillor Lance Warcon, also Co-Chair of the Recreation and Culture Committee, emphasised the positive impact that collaboration between the Council and event organisers continues to have.

“Successful events like the annual Village Festival, Yeppoon Lions Tropical Pinefest, and the Capricorn King of Kings Fishing Competition have all benefited from Council’s support. We strongly encourage all community event organisers to apply for this round,” Councillor Warcon said.

Applications for Round 2 of the Event Sponsorship Program will open on Monday, August 19, and close at midnight on Sunday, September 22, 2024.
