Dreamtime Cultural Centre open for visitors despite roadworks

Rockhampton’s Dreamtime Cultural Centre, nestled on 12 hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds, remains open for visitors to immerse themselves in the rich culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage despite the ongoing roadworks in the area.
Operating Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm, the Centre offers guided tours and daily cultural demonstrations, such as didgeridoo playing and boomerang throwing. These interactive experiences provide an authentic insight into First Nations traditions and practices.
CEO Rose Malone reassures guests that roadworks will not hinder their ability to enjoy a full cultural experience.
“Our guided tours continue to offer a meaningful connection to the stories and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures,” Ms. Malone said. “We’re open and excited to welcome visitors to engage with our heritage, and our experienced guides are ready to bring these stories to life.”
The guided tours journey through ancient traditions, including bush tucker, art, and Dreamtime stories, with hands-on activities such as boomerang throwing and didgeridoo playing.
Visitors are also invited to explore the Centre’s traditional dwellings, artefact displays, and surrounding gardens, which feature an interpretive walk that showcases the cultural and natural heritage of the region.
Now under the management of Darumbal Community Youth Service Inc., the Dreamtime Cultural Centre continues to expand its offerings, strengthen community connections, and provide enriched educational programs.
Visitors can look forward to a more interactive and engaging experience, deepening their understanding of Darumbal customs and stories.
Mary Carroll, CEO of Capricorn Enterprise, expressed her support for the Centre.
“The Dreamtime Cultural Centre is an important asset to our region, offering both locals and visitors an invaluable opportunity to engage with the rich heritage of the Darumbal people and broader First Nations communities,” said Ms. Carroll. “Despite the roadworks, we encourage everyone to visit and experience the unique cultural and educational programs on offer.”
