Budget support for the visitor economy

The Federal Budget 2025–26, delivered on 25 March, included multiple measures supporting the long-term sustainable growth of the visitor economy.

Some key points were:

  • continued financial support for regional airline Rex, with up to $130 million in secured loans
  • the provision of $1.2 billion – in addition to already announced funding – to accommodate expenditure on disaster response payments, including after this month’s ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred
  • $17.1 million to make national parks, beaches and playgrounds more accessible for people with disabilities under the ‘Accessible Australia’ initiative
  • $8.6 million in 2025–26 to extend the Revive Live program to support Australian live music venues and festivals showcasing Australian bands and artists.

The Government will also increase support for hospitality venues, brewers, distillers and wine producers through changes to the alcohol tax settings in Australia, supporting local jobs and regional tourism.
