Set on the banks of the Fitzroy River along Sir Raymond Huish Drive, the event will feature a guest celebrity chef, beef masterclasses, education and pop up restaurants serving a variety of gourmet beef tasting plates. Rockhampton Art Gallery
Welcome home old “friends” or make new ones at Rockhampton Art Gallery this long weekend. Returning from a two-year tour of the eastern coast of Australia, ‘Cream: Four Decades of Australian Art’ is a superb selection drawn entirely from Rockhampton Art Gallery’s remarkable collection of Australian art. Showcasing the stylistic diversity of modernism in Australia, ‘Cream’ includes the work of such greats as Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd, Margaret Olley, Charles Blackman, William Robinson, Jeffrey Smart and Grace Cossington-Smith.
Likewise ‘The Adventures of William Yaxley’ is an exhibition which is deeply connected to our Central Queensland region. A self-taught artist, Yaxley uses the elements of texture, shape, colour and movement to tell stories of his life as a farmer and artist in Yeppoon, Byfield and Tasmania. His approach is an instinctive, rather than a learned way of working, enabling Yaxley to visually communicate the essence of place.
