MEDIA STATEMENT – BUSINESS AS USUAL FOR CAPRICORN ENTERPRISE
Capricorn Enterprise Chief Executive Mary Carroll said “funding from Rockhampton Regional Council has reduced substantially over the years to the current $105,000 per annum to operate the Rockhampton Visitor Information Centre and provide Destination Marketing.
Our approach is business as usual. As one of the thirteen (13) official Regional Tourism Organisations in Queensland, we will continue our very important role in destination marketing with our Southern Great Barrier Reef partners.
We will continue to work with our Northern Australia Alliance partners and Minister Matt Canavan, all three levels of government and provide exceptional service to our Members.
We will continue to operate the Visitor Information Centre (The Spire, Rockhampton) and support our wonderful volunteers.
Capricorn Enterprise Chairman Graham Scott said “We are excited about the future of the region and we certainly appear to have turned a corner with excellent prospects with the Rookwood Wier, a resurgence in the Resources sector, exciting developments in Defence and a bright future for our Tourism industry. We are very pleased to have played, and will continue to play a critical role in all these areas on behalf of business and industry Members and stakeholders.
Our role is to facilitate future prosperity which we will certainly continue to do, business as usual.”
