AgriFuture’s Rural Women’s Awards now open!

As part of AgriFutures Australia’s commitment to identifying, celebrating and empowering women, applications for the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award are now open.

Owner/Manager of Koorana Crocodile Farm, Lillian Lever is strongly encouraging local women within our region to consider nominating themselves or someone deserving for the Award.

“As Australia’s leading award acknowledging and supporting the essential role women play in rural industries, businesses and communities, this prestigious accolade provides a platform to inspire and support Australian women to use and develop their skills to benefit their industries and communities,” said Lillian.

A Queensland finalist in the ABC Radio Rural Women of the Year Award in 1996, and also a Queensland finalist in the RIRDC Rural Women’s Award in 2001, Lillian is aware of the dedication and passion required to be a successful businesswoman in today’s ever-changing world.

Due to her active advocacy for the promotion of women’s roles in agriculture, last week in Canberra, Lillian was provided a seat on the AgriFutures Alumni Advisory Panel.

Lillian was welcomed onboard to advise AgriFutures on topics for professional development, to support participants in the mentoring program, to lead and coordinate initiatives to raise the profile of the Award and the Alumni, and to build community through engagement on social media and at event over the next two years.

“The Award is open to all women involved in rural industries, rural and regional businesses and rural and regional communities,” said Lillian. “Location is no barrier and if you are wanting to create impact, innovate and make a difference to enhancing the prosperity of the community in which you live, then I would love to hear from you.”

Each state and territory winner of the Award receives a $10,000 busary for innovative ideas and projects, access to professional development opportunities and alumni networks.

Capricorn Enterprise CEO, Mary Carroll encourages women in the Capricorn Region to reach out to Lillian and equip themselves with the information needed to put themselves forward for this influential Award.

“Our destination is full of passionate, driven and focussed women who are contributing to the overall positive achievements of our location,” said Mary. “We are very fortunate to have such a successful local businesswoman in Lillian available to share her knowledge and inspire us to reach for better heights.”

Applications close at 11pm on Thursday 31 October. Visit www.agrifutures.com.au for more information.
