Central Highlands tourism initiatives
Posted on November 19th, 2019
Two exciting initiatives to turbo charge tourism and events growth in the Central Highlands will launch at an industry event next week.
The Tourism and Events Forum will be presented by the Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) in Emerald on Wednesday, 27 November.
The forum will bring together business operators, event organisers, key industry champions, experts, and government to connect, collaborate and explore the best ways to tap into the changing market.
It will also launch the new Central Highlands Visitor Economy Strategy 2020-2023 and the Central Highlands Mining Trail.
Tickets are $60 per person at chdc.com.au.
“The region’s tourism and events industry has been steadily evolving in recent years but there’s so much potential to really accelerate its growth, particularly when we work together from the same page, and that’s what the Strategy is all about,” CHDC Tourism Development Coordinator Paul Thompson says.
“It’s the result of months’ of collaboration and engagement between CHDC, regional tourism consulting firm Tilma Group, and many stakeholders – businesses, industry bodies, and government.”
The Central Highlands Mining Trail is a partnership between CHDC and BMA to tap into the tourism potential of the coal mining sector.
Guest speakers at the Forum include Tourism and Events QLD’s Matt Bron, QLD Tourism Industry Council’s Brett Kapernick and Capricorn Enterprise’s Kerry Kerr.
Mr Thompson says the Forum is a must-do for every business servicing visitors to the Central Highlands.
“Come along with your key staff to help you plan and prepare to get the most out of the 2020 tourist season.
“The forum is also an opportunity to share your thoughts, concerns and passion with key industry and government decision makers.”
Tours will be held the following day, on 28 November, to highlight leveraging opportunities and share our region’s best local tourism product with key industry figures.
