Local firm and Capricorn Enterprise Member, CMC, building on their strong regional presence
Posted on April 21st, 2020
The team at Civil Mining and Construction Pty Ltd (CMC) are continuing to build on their strong presence in the Capricorn and across Central Queensland.
Currently, they have projects underway to the north, south and west of Rockhampton for Department of Transport and Main Roads, Queensland Rail, Aurizon, and Sunwater (intersection upgrades at Gogango for Rookwood Weir) as well as continuing to develop their subsidiary quarrying business, QMQ, at Westwood.
General Manager, Grant Christensen, said they are always keen to engage with the local supply chain and ensure as much spend as possible stays in the local community. “As a business that started in Maryborough, we know how important it is to buy local whenever we can.”
It’s going to be busy times ahead for CMC: they are currently mobilising to carry out pavement upgrades on the Bruce Highway from Marmoor to Raglan and have also secured a major mining infrastructure project at Moranbah. Stanmore Coal have engaged CMC on the Isaac Downs project using the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model to progress engineering design to enable firm Design and Construct contract packages to be developed ready for execution for the major civils works, including bridgeworks for an underpass for the Peak Downs Highway crossing, the construction of a haul road to link Isaac Downs with Isaac Plains, and the construction of a flood protection levee. Project timing remains to deliver first coal from Isaac Downs in the first quarter of calendar year 2022.
