Once one of the world’s most productive gold mines, located in Central Queensland’s charming hinterland, Mount Morgan sparkled in the spotlight as Channel 9’s TODAY Show broadcasted their live weather crosses from the Mount Morgan Historical Railway Museum, right in the heart of the iconic gold rush town on Tuesday morning.
Chatting with John Steinberger (President of Mount Morgan Promotion & Development MMPAD), Melissa Chandler (The Grand Hotel), Don Kayes (Mount Hay Gemstone Tourist Park), along with many friendly locals, weather presenter Tim Davies spent the morning discovering the fascinating history and heritage of Mount Morgan.
Following three days of successful and well-received live crosses two weeks ago from Yeppoon, Byfield and Great Keppel Island, the Channel 9 crew were inspired to return to the region to capture even more of our wonderfully diverse landscape.
Along with Mount Morgan, this round of broadcasts featured Emu Park and Rockhampton, showcasing the proud ANZAC Memorial and Singing Ship together with the iconic Fitzroy River and world heritage listed Quay Street.
Capricorn Enterprise CEO, Mary Carroll is grateful for the opportunity to feature even more of our region on the popular national platform and has been extremely impressed by the professionalism of the entire TODAY Show team.
“Tim and the crew have been amazing to work with and I extend a big thank you to all of the local businesses and community who have shown up and powered through the early mornings to put their friendly smiles and warm personalities in front of the camera,” Mary said.
“We have built a strong relationship with the TODAY Show team and we are certain that they will be back to visit again soon.”
