A concrete focus on current trends

Over 80 representatives across the concrete, construction and engineering industry attended Capricorn Enterprise’s Concrete Industry Breakfast Briefing, held at the Frenchville Club on Thursday 3rd June.
The event was centred on the current trends of innovation & sustainability in concrete, aimed at achieving realistic construction outcomes with a reduced carbon footprint.
Attendees heard from leaders in the industry on a range of diverse topics such as the use of carbon nanotube technology, testing and use of coal combustion fly ash in concrete and asset management techniques used to optimize design and extend structural service life.
As an introduction to the event, Aaron Trevis provided an overview of Surf Lakes and some of the construction techniques and technology used in the development of their site at Yeppoon, as well as plans for future development of the Yeppoon Surf Lakes Complex.
Justin Moss, technical director of Arcadis and director of the Australian Society of Concrete Pavements thoroughly enjoyed the event’s information and networking opportunities.
“Capricorn Enterprise is commended for a sustained initiative to bring a diverse range of business interests together in a way which encourages a truly innovative exchange of ideas and a shared exposure to new opportunities,” Justin said.
Tasha Eagle from Parchem Construction Supplies (Event sponsors and hosts) also rated the event as a huge success.
“Capricorn Enterprise managed every detail and organised it all along the way. It was such a relief to have confidence that the event was in the capable hands of the team,” Tasha said.
“With Capricorn Enterprise’s reach and contacts within the region, they were able to bring together an audience of 80 engaged industry people.”
