International borders set to reopen

Capricorn Enterprise welcomes the announcement from the Prime Minister in relation to reopening international borders beginning next month, a move which will be viewed as the first phase of the roadmap for reopening international borders for both outbound and inbound travel.

Re-engaging with the rest of the world is an exciting step forward for our entire tourism industry and the start of a long road to recovery for a sector which has taken a $100bn economic hit according to research released by Tourism Research Australia.

With Australia ready to take its next steps to safely reopen to the world, our government is setting out the framework for how international travel will roll out over the coming months.

As the nation’s vaccination rates slowly increase, so is the time to recommence overseas travel, and we can once again begin welcoming tourists from further abroad back to our shores.

States and territories will begin this program at different times given their varying vaccination rates, but it is expected that reopening stages will commence in November 2021.
