Upcoming open water swim offers family fun day on Great Keppel Island
With the annual Swim Around Keppel just 8 weeks away, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th July 2022 on Great Keppel Island, day visitors are encouraged to book their return ferry transfers and spectator cruises to avoid disappointment. The one-of-a-kind event will see 100 solo open water swimmers from all around Australia participate in the 20km swim circumnavigating Great Keppel Island with additional tandem teams, duos and team relays.
This Year, we’re looking for water-based support volunteers, whether it be locals with a jet ski, boat or their own kayaks, we urge anyone interested to put their hand up and get involved, it truly is a good family fun day. In addition to the swim this year, we are offering two spectator cruises, to be involved and cheer on the swimmers from the comfort of the Freedom Fast Cat ferries. Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to get on board and be part of the fun. There is an abundance of free on-island activities in place, including water polo, a scavenger hunt and sandcastle building.
For those looking to participate but maybe not up to the 20km swim, places are still available for tandems, duo and team relays, as well as the open water 5km swim around Middle Island but registrations for these events close this coming Monday, 30th May.
