Small Business Wellness Support Package
Posted on December 6th, 2022
Small businesses are the heart and hubs of our local communities and the wellbeing and strong mental health of their owners and employees is vital for the health of their business and the economy.
Because of this, the Queensland Government is rolling out its $8.76 million Small Business Wellness Package.
This Package includes vital support for small business owners right across Queensland who may be experiencing mental health challenges due, not only to the normal stressors of running a small business in challenging economic conditions, but also as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic and natural disasters.
In the same way small businesses need to maintain the tools of their trade to operate at optimal level, they also need to look after their greatest asset – their mental health.
Six new Small Business Wellness Coaches are joining the existing state-wide network of over 40 rural, tourism and small business financial counsellors.
As part of the $3 million Small Business Support Service Fund, a locally based coach or counsellor can connect a small business owner with a service provider up to the value of $5,000 where further specialist support is assessed as needed.
The State government are also extending the very successful proactive education program ‘Small Business Smile4Biz’ developed by the Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and working with the Queensland Mental Health Commissioner and CCIQ to enable more chambers to activate a ‘Smile 4 Biz’ program to deliver local mental health support that is tailored to their local needs.
