Channel 9’s Getaway digs into the exciting world of geo-tourism this Saturday 11th May

Taking viewers on a journey through sections of the ‘Dig the Tropic’ geo-tourism trail, Channel 9 Getaway presenter David Whitehill will hit television screens this Saturday 11th May from 5.30pm with an episode showcasing the sparkling Sapphire Gemfields in Central Queensland Highlands, and the timeless volcanic thundereggs from Mount Hay Gemstone Tourist Park, west of Rockhampton.

The story, which also features Miners HeritageNew Royal Hotel Rubyvale, and Rubyvale Gem Gallery, highlights tourism experiences along the Tropic of Capricorn – an invisible line of latitude which runs past the seaside paradise of Yeppoon on the Capricorn Coast, and only Rio de Janeiro in the East and Mauritius to the West, links some of the world’s most dramatic landscapes and geological wonders.

With thanks to a successful grant from Tourism and Events Queensland, and a funding partner with Central Highlands Development Corporation and Outback QLD Tourism Association, Capricorn Enterprise was able to leverage funds in assisting the promotion of our Dig The Tropic trail.

This story is the first of two commissioned stories (airing dates for Capricorn Caves and Capricorn Dinosaur Park coming soon).

Capricorn Enterprise is pleased to continue our positive ongoing partnership with David Whitehill and Channel 9’s Getaway, which has a viewing audience of 350,000 across Australia and New Zealand.

‘Dig’ for the remote, set your lounge room temperature to ‘Sub-Tropical’ and settle in to marvel at our destination’s creative and inspiring history.
