The Salty Lime Co. launches school tour experience in 2025

The Salty Lime Co. is set to inspire the next generation with the launch of its new School Tour Experience, kicking off in 2025.

This engaging and educational program will welcome students to the finger lime farm on the Capricorn Coast, where they will discover the fascinating world of bees, finger limes, and sustainable farming.

As part of the tour, Beekeeper Warren Hinton will introduce students to the incredible role of bees in our ecosystem, demonstrating how honey is made and showcasing a beehive display.

Students will also have the chance to stroll through the lush Finger Lime Orchard, learning about this unique native fruit, its uses, and its environmental benefits.

Owners of The Salty Lime Co., Roxanne and Luke Hinton, are passionate about sharing their knowledge with future generations.

“We believe education is key to fostering a deeper appreciation for our natural environment,” Roxanne said.

“By giving students a hands-on experience, we hope to inspire them to think about sustainability, farming, and the vital role bees and native crops play in our ecosystem.”

The Salty Lime Co. has long been dedicated to eco-conscious practices and sustainable agriculture, producing premium finger lime products while championing regenerative farming techniques.

This school tour initiative aligns with their mission to create awareness around native Australian produce and environmental responsibility.

Capricorn Enterprise CEO, Mary Carroll, emphasised the importance of initiatives like this in shaping the future.

“The Salty Lime Co.’s new school tours provide a valuable opportunity for hands-on learning, fostering a connection with nature and an appreciation for Australia’s unique produce,” Mary said.

“Additionally, experiences like these contribute to the broader tourism landscape, attracting visitors interested in agritourism and showcasing the Capricorn Coast as a destination rich in both natural beauty and educational opportunities.”

“As an eco-certified destination, the Capricorn Coast is committed to sustainability and responsible tourism,” Mary said.

“It’s inspiring to see The Salty Lime Co. working towards their own eco-certification, further enhancing our region’s reputation as a leader in sustainable travel and agritourism.

The School Tour Experience is open to primary and secondary students, offering an immersive, fun-filled day of learning.
