The Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton region proudly showcased their tourism excellence at the prestigious Australian Tourism Awards, held last night at the Adelaide Convention Centre in front of hundreds of industry leaders, tourism operators, and dignitaries.
Yeppoon born Fun Over 50 Holidays was a standout on the night, taking home Gold in the Tours and Transport Operators category. With a strong focus on immersive, sustainable, and culturally enriching experiences, the company continues to elevate regional tourism, including showcasing the Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton region in its itineraries.
Meanwhile, Beef Australia 2024 secured Silver in the Major Festivals and Events category, reinforcing its status as one of the nation’s most significant agribusiness events. Held every three years in Rockhampton, Beef Australia attracts global attention, celebrating the beef industry and its integral role in Australia’s economy and culinary heritage.
Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll congratulated the region’s representatives on their achievements.
“Winning gold and silver on the national stage is a phenomenal achievement and a testament to the passion, dedication, and innovation of our tourism industry,” Mary said.
“Fun Over 50 Holidays has been instrumental in bringing visitors to our region and crafting unforgettable experiences, while Beef Australia continues to put Rockhampton in the international spotlight. Their success is something the whole community can be proud of.”
The region was also well represented with Great Keppel Island Hideaway as a finalist in the 3-3.5 Star Accommodation category and Rockhampton Regional Council as a finalist in the Tourism Marketing and Campaigns category. These nominations recognise the outstanding tourism offerings of the region and its dedication to providing world-class experiences.
Great Keppel Island Hideaway Manager Kelly Harris said being a finalist at the Australian Tourism Awards was an incredible opportunity.
“To be recognised at this level and compete against some of the best accommodation providers in Australia is an honour in itself,” Kelly said.
“Our team is passionate about delivering an unforgettable island escape, and we’re proud to have represented the Capricorn Coast on the national stage.”
The Australian Tourism Awards celebrate the very best in the industry, with nominees first securing gold at their respective state and territory awards before earning their place among Australia’s top tourism operators.
With national recognition across multiple categories, the Capricorn Coast and Rockhampton region continue to cement their reputation as must-visit destinations for travellers seeking unforgettable experiences.
