Rockhampton Flatwater Facility is one of 17 Venues listed on the GIICA (Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority) website.
The site, earmarked for 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Rowing and Canoe Sprints is in the “Planning and Approvals phase” with an anticipated project timeline of Design phase from 2027-2029, Construction from 2029-2030 and Commissioning phase from 2030-2031. GIICA has commenced a feasibility assessment as part of the planning and approval phase, appointing a lead consultant for the feasibility phase and work which commenced in September 2025. Once this work has been completed the next stage would be to commence the Project Validation Report (PVR) for an investment decision by the Australian and Queensland governments.
