The 2026 NSW Caravan Camping Holiday Supershow, was held from 28 April to 3 May, and proved to be another valuable opportunity to showcase Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast diverse travel experiences to a highly engaged audience. Capricorn Enterprise was represented on the Drive QLD stand by one of our volunteers from the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre (Ilona Higgins), our presence ensured visitors received firsthand knowledge, practical advice, and inspiration for their next journey north.
Across the six-day event, total attendance reached just under 36,000 visitors. While slightly down on 2025, the quality of engagement remained exceptionally strong. Attendees were highly motivated travellers—predominantly grey nomads, followed by an increase in families and pet owners over the weekend. Many were planning second or third trips around Australia and actively seeking new destinations beyond the well-known locations.
Interest in Queensland was widespread, with strong demand for inland and regional experiences. Routes such as the Capricorn Way generated significant interest. Visitors were particularly drawn to experiences that combine accessibility with adventure, often preferring sealed roads while still exploring lesser-known regions.
The popular Capricorn Coast Region Visitor & Lifestyle Guide was distributed throughout the week—highlighting strong demand for information. Visitors consistently praised the quality of resources, maps, and personalised advice available at the stand.
Attendance at events like this remains essential. It provides direct access to a highly targeted audience at the critical planning stage of their travel journey, builds awareness of our region, and strengthens our overall tourism offering. The strong interest, positive feedback, and high level of engagement demonstrate that continued participation delivers real value for our members and the wider industry.
