Who says you need a week off work to enjoy an island holiday? Pumpkin Island is making it easier for Rockhampton and Capricorn Coast locals to escape the everyday, announcing five opportunities for two-night island getaways this November and December.
With the festive season fast approaching, the Southern Great Barrier Reef island is inviting locals to swap their busy schedules for secluded beaches, crystal-clear waters and a little well-deserved downtime, all without travelling far from home.
Recognising that committing to a three-night island stay isn’t always practical for locals juggling work, family and other commitments, the shorter two-night escapes offer an opportunity to enjoy an island getaway over a weekend.
Pumpkin Island’s Laureth Rumble said the new offering was about making the island experience more accessible to the local community.
“We know that for many locals, finding time for a three-night getaway can be tricky, particularly at this time of year when everyone is so busy,” Laureth said.
“By opening up these two-night stays, we’re hoping to make it easier for people in our own backyard to enjoy a little island escape without having to take extra time away from work or family commitments.”
“Sometimes you don’t need to travel far to feel like you’ve had a proper holiday. A couple of nights surrounded by beautiful beaches, fresh sea air and absolutely no rush can make all the difference.”
Just a short boat trip aboard Pumpkin Xpress from the Capricorn Coast, Pumpkin Island offers a peaceful retreat where visitors can disconnect from the daily grind and reconnect with nature.
From kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding to snorkelling, beach walks and relaxing with an ocean view, the island offers plenty of ways to unwind or explore at their own pace.

With just five dates currently available, the two-night escapes are ideal for couples, families and groups of friends looking to squeeze in a little island time before the busy Christmas and summer holiday season.
