New Campaign encourages Central Queenslanders to holiday close to home

Central Queensland residents are being encouraged to spend their winter holidays in region with a new campaign which launched last weekend.

This Capricorn Holidays campaign showcases the fantastic holiday offerings of the Capricorn region across television, radio, and digital channels, and is aimed at enticing visitors to experience activities and places that are loved by locals.

“The campaign targets a 400km radius drive market, plus locals and their visiting friends and relatives, which makes up a significant amount of our visitor economy. We want to share locals’ favourite experiences, and in turn, build spending in the local economy” says Mary Carroll, CEO of Capricorn Enterprise.

Apart from utilising Capricorn Holidays digital channels, Capricorn Enterprise has partnered exclusively with Southern Cross Austereo across their Channel 9, Triple M, and Hit FM stations to reach potential holiday makers.

Mary Carroll says, “The team at Southern Cross Austereo will be getting out and about to visit and showcase local experiences, visitors can also win by entering on the Capricorn Holidays website. This is a great way of building excitement about exploring our region, and growing people’s knowledge about the amazing experiences on offer here.”

The Southern Cross team will visit Yeppoon, Byfield, Great Keppel Island, Rockhampton, Carnarvon Gorge and Sapphire Gemfields, and showcase content from these trips across their own channels, as well as tell listeners about their experiences during their live breakfast shows.

Channel 9 viewers in Rockhampton, Mackay, Gladstone and Bundaberg regions will also see four (4) new videos featuring family, adventure, cultural and natural experiences, which are also being promoted on Visit Capricorn’s Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels.

The highlight of the campaign is a competition element, offering six prizes featuring short breaks right across the region. Tourism Business Members of Capricorn Enterprise have provided accommodation, touring and dining experiences which are packaged into short breaks. Locals also need to keep their eyes out for Street Patrols, as the Triple M and Hit FM breaky teams are armed with lots of giveaways from Capricorn Enterprise member businesses.

“This campaign could not have come together without the incredible support we’ve received from campaign partners Southern Cross Austereo, Cooper McKenzie, Mad Dog Productions and our tourism members,” says Mary Carroll.

For those not fortunate enough to win prizes, the campaign is also offering numerous accommodation and activity deals to encourage locals to experience their region as a tourist. Deals can be found on the campaign page www.capricornholidays.com.au/winter
