“The Ultimate Guide to Driving the Great Barrier Reef” – nature’s greatest gift to the world

A FIRST for Queensland and Australia and another FIRST for the Southern Great Barrier Reef, this latest collaboration a year in the making, is set to drive more visitors to nature’s greatest gift to the world!

The five (5) precincts of the Great Barrier Reef (Southern Great Barrier Reef, Mackay Region, Tourism Whitsundays, Townsville North Queensland and Tourism Tropical North Queensland) have partnered to produce “The Ultimate Guide to Driving the Great Barrier Reef” – nature’s greatest gift to the world. Kindly project managed by Townsville Enterprise on behalf of seven of Queensland’s Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs) and supported by Tourism and Events Queensland, we are all extremely excited about the results of this collaboration.

This amazing project has been a year in the making with 350,000 copies printed in five (5) languages including English, German, French, Japanese, Chinese and will be distributed to key locations and tourism trade in Australia and overseas.

This printed collateral will also be a digital guide, supported by a significant social media campaign.

In addition to our Southern Great Barrier Reef partnership (Capricorn, Gladstone and Bundaberg regions), Capricorn Enterprise has invested significantly in this project to ensure that our iconic Great Keppel Island stood out amongst strong competition from other well known Great Barrier Reef islands.

Thanks to collaboration with our Great Keppel Island operators, including Great Keppel Island Hideaway, Freedom Fastcats, Sail Capricornia, Keppel Konnections and GKI Holiday Village, we have a full page advertisement which looks fantastic.

Thanks also to Villa Mar Colina and Pumpkin Island, who also financially supported this extremely exciting project!

STUNNING SOUTHERN GREAT BARRIER REEF AT OUR FINGERTIPS!

There has never been a better time to experience our pristine part of the Southern Great Barrier Reef in the Keppel Group of Islands!  The water clarity has been excellent, marine life playful and the soft and hard corals absolutely stunning in so many spots including Passage Rocks (near Middle Island), Wreck Beach and Shelving Beach (Great Keppel Island) and behind Pumpkin Island.

Recently I was joined by my friend and her teenage daughter from the Gold Coast on a glass bottom boat tour with Freedom Fastcat.  The weather was perfect, so we were able to head to Passage Rocks between Middle Island and Great Keppel Island after feeding the fish near the Underwater Observatory.  We diverted to witness some very playful dolphins and the full boat of visitors from interstate and overseas were thrilled with the day!

Anthony Vaughan, our enthusiastic tour guide from Freedom Fastcats did an exceptional job and his passion for our reef and islands is to be commended.  His photographic talent is impressive too!

Afterwards, Geoff Mercer from GKI Holiday Village took us over to snorkel at Passage Rocks and the squeels of excitement coming out of Mya’s snorkel said it all!  What a memorable day it was!

Did you know that the Southern Great Barrier Reef is the only section of the Great Barrier Reef, that is home to all eight of the GBR’s “Great 8” – Dolphins, Manta Rays, Whales, Potato Cods, Sharks, Turtles, Clown Fish, Giant Clams and Maori Wrasse!
