Central Highlands Tourism and Events Forum 2019

Collaboration, the changing tourism marketplace and storytelling were three key themes that emerged strongly from the Central Highlands Tourism and Events forum held in Emerald on 27 November.

Bringing together tourism operators, key leaders, industry representatives and event organisers, the forum discussed the best ways to tap into the changing tourism market and how we can all work together to leverage off these opportunities.   Among the presenters was Kerry Kerr, Tourism and Marketing Manager at Capricorn Enterprise who joined with key Tourism industry representatives from TEQ and QTIC.

Aimed at assisting the Central Highlands to achieve its full potential in the tourism market, the forum was a great opportunity for participants to share their thoughts, concerns and passion with key industry and government decision makers.  The afternoon sessions enabled tourism and event operators to meet one-on-one for questions and mentoring with industry representatives and tourism leaders, as ws well as providing valuable networking opportunities.

The Central Highlands Visitor Economy Strategy 2020-2023 was launched, as was the CH Mining Trail, both aimed at increasing length of stay and dispersal of visitors within the region.  The forum was followed by tours and site inspections on 28 November at the Sapphire Gemfields and Blackdown Tablelands.
