Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre officially announced: Reece Plumbing Centre opens

It’s official; the new Homemaker Centre on Yeppoon Road will be known as the Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre. The new branding and logo were officially launched by Centre developer Gibb Group, during the official opening of major retail tenant Reece Plumbing.
Present for the opening ceremony were State Member for Keppel MP Brittany Lauga, Livingstone Shire Council Mayor Bill Ludwig, Reece Plumbing Manager Ross Hazlehurst, Gibb Group National Development Director Matthew Thiselton, and Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll.
The $33M Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre (Stage 1) is the first of its kind for the Livingstone Shire Council (LSC) region. Its vision is to become the region’s destination retail location for home improvement, hardware and other complementary large format retail businesses. The master-planned estate has been designed with the capacity to develop a range of large format retail premises, to accommodate the current and future needs of the projected population of the region.
Reece Group operates Australia’s largest plumbing and bathroom supply business, alongside several affiliated businesses. The purpose-built Reece Plumbing Centre at the Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre is the newest addition to its national store network, expanding its range and operations to service the growing population across the region.
Gus’s Coffee owner, Jason Korda, has operated stores in Central Queensland since 2011 and is excited to be opening Gus’s first drive-through concept in the Homemaker Centre, alongside a unique pay system. Mr Korda adds: “We have been looking for an opportunity to bring our CQ brand to the Coast for some time and are excited to be able to be part of the Homemaker Centre. We will be employing many new locals with this drive-through store – so watch the job ads over the coming months for more information.”
Gibb Group’s National Development Director, Matthew Thiselton, states: “We are very excited today to be officially opening our first business in the Capricorn Coast Homemaker Centre, as well as launching the brand and logo to the community. We have been working with Council over a number of years on this site to deliver their vision for a Homemaker Centre in the region.”
“We have been focused on securing a good variety of businesses both national and local within the first stage of the Homemaker Centre, who will be able to support sustainable and long-term jobs in the region. Having a variety of both service/food-oriented and large format retailers should increase customer visitation to the Centre and provide businesses with the best opportunity to attract customers to their stores. It is estimated that over 100 new jobs will be created by this initial investment. We are excited by this result for the Livingstone Shire community.”
Mary Carroll, CEO of Capricorn Enterprise welcomes another development from Gibb Group in Central Queensland. “National developer and asset manager Gibb Group has been providing development solutions in our region since the opening of Gracemere Industry Park and the Toll NQX facility in 2014. Being able to secure some great national and local brands that will support over 100 new jobs is a great result for the Capricorn Coast community. The Coast will now have a complementary retail precinct providing a sustainable foundation for these businesses into the future.”
