5 minutes with Capricorn Enterprise Economic Development Member, Cooper Mckenzie Marketing

Carl Carter is not your average manager. He is a professional business manager and marketing strategist with a finance background. He understands sales and the sales process, importance of stakeholder engagement, as well as business improvement and change management.

With a passion for assisting clients to grow their businesses by engaging, and developing sustainable business and marketing strategies, Carl has adapted to various industries, and has held senior executive and commercial roles across media, mining and finance industries.

A long-time Rocky local, with established contacts, and a ‘finger on the pulse’ of small business in CQ, we took five minutes with Carl to find out more about the work of Cooper Mckenzie Marketing (CMM).

Tell us about CMM?

CMM is a media accredited, full service marketing agency, based in regional Queensland and award-winning, family-owned business that has grown from small beginnings to become the longest-serving full-service agency in CQ.

The firm – with offices in Gladstone and Rockhampton, is run by experienced, senior marketing practitioners – including the owners with whom the buck stops.

This model is a necessity in a regional centre where relationships count for everything.

What is your regional perspective?

With several major projects on the horizon, Central Queensland is the envy of other regions across the country.  We are in a fortunate position to be very diverse – industry, mining, agriculture, education, tourism, health…the list goes on. With moderate weather and livability, coupled with a diverse economy, why would you want to live anywhere else!

Tell us about your experience with Capricorn Enterprise so far?

CMM has been a member of Capricorn Enterprise for some time and I have personally been a part of the Economic Development sub-committee as well as Capricorn Industry Group for a couple of years (as an aside I’m still also Vice President of Gladstone Chamber of Commerce & Industry for my sins).

We see great value in membership with Capricorn Enterprise.  Keeping up to date with the various economic drivers, projects and stakeholders across business sectors and industry in the region, our partnership with Capricorn Enterprise enables us to stay reliably informed – providing valuable insights and opening doors to opportunities.
