QTIC’s Top Tourism Towns for 2022 announced
Posted on June 14th, 2022
More than 90 guests attended an exclusive event hosted by Minister for Tourism, Innovation and Sport – Stirling Hinchliffe Monday 13th June at the ‘tower of power’ government chambers in Brisbane to celebrate the exciting announcement of the 2022 Top Tourism Town Awards.
Congratulations to Mount Tamborine who took out the Top Tourism Town category, Airlie Beach for Small Tourism Town and Winton for Tiny Tourism Town.
The Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) flipped the judging criteria this year, with only 25% of the judging process falling on the public vote, 65% decided by the judging panel and the remaining 10% judged via assessment of visitor reviews.
With 16,000 public votes cast across the three categories, Capricorn Enterprise, together with the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre and Livingstone Shire Council, is proud of our local community and thanks everyone for getting behind our beautiful Yeppoon.
Our team would also like to give a shout out to Jeremy Marou for joining us on this journey, and also to our Southern Great Barrier Reef neighbours – Bundaberg, Gladstone and Rockhampton for providing some hefty and friendly competition.
This is Yeppoon… see you soon! Watch here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0trtQjLtJGg&t=2s

Queensland’s Top Tourism Town winners announced
Queensland’s best holiday destinations for 2022 were announced yesterday at the QTIC Queensland Top Tourism Town Awards, with Tamborine Mountain, Airlie Beach, and Winton taking out top honours.
With three hotly contested awards presented to a trio of towns based on population size, Tamborine Mountain were crowned this year’s Top Tourism Town, with a population over 5,000. While Airlie Beach, the coastal retreat with a population between 1,500 and 5,000, took out Top Small Tourism Town, and Winton were awarded Top Tiny Population. A big achievement for a destination with a population under 1,500!
After a public vote that attracted more than 16,000 votes, Queensland’s best holiday destinations for 2022 were selected from a shortlist of 23 exceptional finalists.
Congratulations to this year’s Top Tourism Town winners and to all of the finalists, whose commitment to visitor excellence demonstrate that holidaymakers don’t have to travel far in Queensland to enjoy outstanding and diverse experiences.
